  • We catch up with the Cornfoot Bros. Pulling Team at the Tooradin Tractor Pull & Truck Show who give us the low down on their highly customised and very successful John Deere 7810 Pro Stock Smoker class tractor. Now making in excess of 1100hp from the stroker 510ci Holset turbocharged 6-cylinder diesel, the engine features many billet internal parts.

    Thanks for doing this ! 👍 I watch pulling a lot but never had any insight on it.
    Very cool of the racer to go over every detail on his machine and the racing part.

    As a teen in the late 80's, early 90's, I watched a bunch of these tractor pull comps on TV. Some tractors had four or more V8 engines and other crazy setups. Interesting stuff.

    Great vid, love the variety. What a beast of an engine, bit surprised though, I always thought the tractor pull guys ran massive boost. I have seen them split blocks in half which I thought was from excessive boost pressure.

    Thanks for a great video and explaining everything to those that don’t know how it all works like me. I used to be a mechanic and worked on tractors, stock ones though. What kind of pistons are your running? With or with out rings? I hear some Guys don’t run rings. Why are those engines so hard to start and need lots of either? How do you get the RPM so high? How big are the injection pump plungers? So when you make boost and you turn the water infection on that it what it starts to smoke like that and why? Sorry for all the questions but you really seem to know your stuff!

  • @ImTheDud3

    its water injection or water/alcohol ? what happening when boost and water injection comes together ?

    • @TDJDriftersBoss
      @TDJDriftersBoss 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ImTheDud3 i assume the water expanding makes extra boost or something?

    • @randknu1
      @randknu1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      2 reasons for water injection, 1. Cooling the intake air and the combustion. 2. Water expanding when it's rapidly turned to steam.

    I'd like to see some acceleration runs without the sled. Bet those beasts moves.
    Anyone know the speed at 5.5k Rpm in 3rd?

    • @misterx243
      @misterx243 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      traskalle
      I saw one go about 80km/h without the sled and it was higly unstable. But that was only at half throttle. I wouldn't want to be near it if someone tried a speed run. The steering of those machines is not made for anything more than 15km/h

    • @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER
      @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      traskalle these are designed to used the torque & pull, on there own while it might launch fast it won't have a great top speed, and you would never use the full 1100hp either.

    • @NorwayVFX
      @NorwayVFX 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      A local guy here has a 500 something ci engine in his puller. Runs methanol, just under 10bar (145psi) of boost and the rev limiter is at over 7000rpm. One of the craziest sounding engines I have ever heard, power was over 3000hp I think.

    • @bigdiffas
      @bigdiffas 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Herlevis diesel pro stocks run 510ci/8.3liter over 6500rpm and have 2500-2800hp on them.

      bigdiffas those guys are serious, heck they even run their water injection at 20 bar (294psi). I suspect selling both my kidneys wouldn't go any where near covering the cost of a rebuild in one of those things

    • @ric250r

      Oscar Thorpe the engine they start with is the 6.7 block. It gets bored and a stroker crank to achieve the optimal bore-stroke ratio.

    • @Ethan-ck6iz
      @Ethan-ck6iz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ric250r Perhaps they made a mistake in saying it's a 6.7 litre... The original engine of the John Deere 7810 is 8.1 litre
