I trained for 10 years in various dance forms (in another life) and you are so right about the feeling of freedom. And you can just feel that freedom when Jimin dances. In this his movements are so incredibly beautiful and fluid. I agree that these dancers must have been trained in multiple forms. Jimin is actually the only one who does the toe stand on butterfly part!!! Jimin genius and he never miss any of his elegant good body posture sexy but cool strong and soft moves!! I love how after he sings 'Set me free' the 2 dancers push him back in as he's trying to break free it's a real representation of all those people who try to 'box' Jimin in who only want he to be what they want him to be and of all the negative thoughts and emotions he fights with as he strives to be the perfect proformer. It's him trying to free himself for all that and yet there are 2 dancers trying to reign him in again. It's beautiful, it symbolic, it's story telling, it's art. The two dancers push him back into the group again it's that 'pushing Jimin' back into the box they want him to be in, and his negative thoughts pushing him back again. This whole dance is a fight between himself and his innger demons caused by hateful comments and his strive for perfection. And the two higher dancers held up are towering over him, making him small what a picture, what a statement.
It’s very difficult to explain Jimin’s dancing to another person on my level as I am not a dancer but I love watching dance videos. I am always captivated, mesmerised, in awe of Jimin, and you Jeff, articulate exactly what I feel when Im watching the most beautiful dancer on this planet!!!
one of my favorite moments was at the minute 2, when the square is rotating, when the lines o dancers stand up, they do the same movements he's already doing like he's duplicating ... also the way he's doing his own thing and is suddenly join the dancers in one or two movements shows how well rehearsed everything is and makes me think he knows his own choreo as well as the dancers bc like you said, the way he's able to join the dancers right on time is amazing
With the opening chaos part, the dancers’ move mimick the boomerang effect, stretching out and going back inside is the same movement track!! It is so satisfying to watch ….
I always look forward to your dance analysis videos because I learn so much from you. There are so many things I find amazing in choreographies but find it hard to verbalize or pinpoint what makes it amazing and you take the words right out of my mouth every time! Anyway, Jimin, the dancers, and the choreography is just perfection.
Jimin competed successfully in popping while in middle school 13/14 yo. Afterwards he went to a performing arts high school at 15/16 where he learned contemporary for 2 years. Videos at the time of him popping and dancing contemporary show his exceptional skill and prodigy.
I love how the choreography is such an amazing interpretation of this song, and combines lyrical/ hip hop, contemporary, and performance art to show off Jimin's amazing dancing. Such a combo of strength, explosiveness yet control. Kudos to the dancers, my gosh this probably one of the most technically difficult routines I've ever seen and they cannot. mess. up! Any slight misstep would make this look so sloppy but they all did the choreo justice!

He is famous for his ballet foot position all throughout his career. You can go back and look at still shots and see his perfect foot placement. But it's there always when he dances too. In the videos its harder to see unless you freeze frame...like you did. Good observation. I have pointed this out to others throughout the years. I'm loving your analysis. You can see and feel his emotions so much better in this dance practice because you don't have lighting shadowing his face. And...if you noticed...his bangs are shorter so we can see his eyes. It's so important. I really missed that in the video. Being a dancer and choreograper I noticed how careful they were at the end to not just drop him, but place him so he wouldn't get hurt Very few would know that. So Thank you. You do have expertise commentary.

When it was time for him to go to high school his teacher/coach recommended that he audition for his local performing arts high school, Busan High School of Arts, where he majored in Modern Dance.
