    The mic looks like a little kid holding/closing his ears as if it doesn't want to listen to your voice 😆😆

      In the end, it mostly comes down to your skills at setting up and speaking into the microphone. But if you want to sound like a professional on a budge, there is nothing better than this!

      That’s one of the best steps most people can take to improve their audio, treat their room first. You’re on the right path!

      And then you just buy King Bee and have great sound for much less.

    • @theslimbin
      @theslimbin 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@moristar but the king bee, though amazing, isn't really available; its sold out in lots of places and instead of being about £130 it's like £300 (again), form resellers and has a slightly different sound profile to the mouse. that being said I love the king it's amazing and my favourite mic of all time, but is in too high demand for its own good and isn't the bee :) all end all if that was the case, blue and other mic companies would make there king bee equivalent and not make any other mic. but then again its almost indistinguishable from a Neumann TLM 103, (unless you have amazing ears and headphones then you can hear a difference so small that it's in the margin of error) and that mic is the standard so it's pretty close to the be all end all, especially considering the price, even at £300.
      but yes the king bee with sound isolation can easily beat it for less giving you far better audio than: without isolation but a more expensive mic (if your not looking for a super-specific mic sound profile)
      and as bandrew said there are features this mic has like it's off-axis colouration and its lack of proximity effect when moving away from the microphone which the king bee doesn't have because the King bee is just a mic where is the mouse has features that the bee doesn't have and doesn't need to have but the mouse has because it's meant to be more than the king bee and that's why the king bee isn't the be-all-end-all.

    • @moristar
      @moristar 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theslimbin Oh, wow. I've got myself NT1 just because everyone kept saying that it's amazing and I kind of agree, but I like King Bee sound better now.
      To be honest, AT 2020 sounds perfectly fine to me (maybe a bit raspy on Bandrew's voice). Over and over with every new review I'm thinking to myself that I would have been completely happy with it.
      Before that I had some MXL condenser. And although it was OK, I think it was intended for music recording first and foremost (it was sold as a pair with MLX pen intrument mic), so I really hated its sound on my voice, thus NT1 is a huge improvement.

    • @theslimbin
      @theslimbin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@moristar the king bee is the best sub £500 mic and if you want and can get it is great but don't be spending money unnecessarily.
      The King bees generally flat response really does give your voice an accurate representation but its presence boost in the high makes it sound so clean and so professional. if you want a mic you will never have to upgrade unless you wanna upgrade your mic purely for the sake of upgrading, your mic is the King bee. I can't sing its praises loud enough (for £130). if you do end up getting it you NEED a good mic arm none that can take 1.5kg as my old cheap one could not take the weight of the King by and the mic just kept falling over and putting itself down I know you may think it's not that big of a deal only the big bulky one can hold it 0.5kg
      I think the king is so much better than the at2020 when it's at £130

    Great review. I think in the recent series' of GMM, the mic is there partially as set decor and they are using hidden lavaliers (when they stand up you can see transmitters on them in some shots). Does anyone know if the mouse is actually included in the mix, or if they are using the lavaliers as a backup?

    I've really been focused on learning about mics. My YT presence is new, and very much in its infancy. I have watched perhaps 80 or so mic reviews in the last 4 to 6 months. The vast majority of them are yours. Next is Curtis Judd and then Mike at Booth Junkie. You, Bandrew do it right. (Both of them do too) But you cover all the bases, many options at many price points, and help newbies like me who don't need to and can't spend $400.00 on a mic to figure out what might work best for our needs.
    I've seen one guy with minor variations on your theme and tries to emulate your style but comes across rather teeny bopper, and most others are very low grade. Some are little more than show and tell for their new, 'this is the best mic for you tube' while offering no comparisons or technical specs. Some seem to think their new mic makes them look like they're sitting in an F-16 cockpit or something. I've learned to move on once a 'reviewer' starts talking about the cool looks of their new mic. I just want it to sound good, be high quality and serve my needs.
    I'm getting the AT 2035 to replace the highly recommended (Not by you) Yeti I started out with, and just wanted to say thanks for the style and detail of your reviews. I wish I knew then what I think I know now. I've seen and heard enough to trust your judgment. Thanks

    Thanks for throwing in the AT2020 in there for comparison! I'm looking to upgrade my mic (AT2020) and so far nothing yet compares to the Neuman TLM 103 for what I want. I'm using it for voice-overs and while I like the richness of Blue Mic, it does feel a little bit heavy in the mids which may not allow the VO to cut through very well. Thanks for the review! BTW Can you please do a review of pop filters that you have and let us know which you like the best? Thanks!

    The AT2020 and Neat King Bee sounded pretty close to this Blue Mouse, other than a raised midrange for the two cheaper mics
    The Rode NT1 sounded better than the rest of the mics that were auditioned
    The Neumann TLM103 had a sharp glare for some reason on this vid
    The Blue Baby Bottle sounded muffled compared to the Blue Mouse, which was surprising
    The Blue Mouse is severely overpriced for the OK sound it provides. I would've liked to hear the Sennheiser MD441-U compared with this mic.
    @Bandrew - could the video have lost some of the sound quality for the Blue Mouse that you may have heard in person? This mic really sounded average through headphones.
    And I'm glad that you didn't throw the wooden box - especially since you clipped your camera.

      @elrapanda 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @A D I don’t have the rode, but I’ve seen lot of reviews and the warm 47jr is pretty neutral in comparison, I get it because I wanted a non sibilant mic, rode is more modern sound and the w47jr is more vintage, of course you can get a modern sound if you cut the low end and boost the hi end a bit, that’s flexibility to me, I spent lot of hours trying to fix the resonances in other mics and only a few minutes with the 47 to get a dope sound, Now is my fav, I have the Neumann tlm 102, the antelope edge solo, two Akg 214 and the 47 is always my first choice for vocals, but depends the singer or rapper

    Im looking for a USB microphone for audiobook narration. I don't want to go too expensive because I'm just starting out and I really don't want to invest a large amount of money into something i'm not even sure I'm going to be good at. Any suggestions?

    Guten Tag, It would be very interesant if you review an Audio Interface from MOUKEY, it apears to be a good candidate for your channel.

    What do you think in comparison to the Blue Mouse and Neumann KMS105. Out of the two which one for spoken word would sound better or pro's and cons

    I feel like these high tier microphones are not worth it. None of them is. That is, for spoken word. You pay a hilarious premium for way too little effect for everyday people to even notice it, once you got to a microphone around 200 dollars to upgrade from.

      Yeah I think the real diminishing returns for dynamics occurs around $100-$200 (SM57, sE V7, or m201TG for a little more). And condensers around $300-$500 (NT1, sE4400a, etc.)

    Blue mouse sounds over natural. The expensive ones sound brighter and unnatural

      yeah I have to agree. It has a nice tenor round sound that has a full tone where as the others (apart from the Audio Technica which sounded very tinny) which seems to pick up deeper, baritone sounds. To my ear, the Shure KSM44a has the most similar sound to the Blue Mouse.

    this sounds amazing ... but I don't even get that much money per 2 months ...
    Rode NT-1 sounds just as good as the rest (I don't like the Neumann though... it definitely doesn't sound as a bag of money)

    I suggest taking a look at Advanced Audio Microphones. The owner of the boutique maker, Dave, is one of the most knowledgeable and interesting people to speak with and really cares about the mics they make.

    I have random question about recordings with tube mics what’s the difference of plugging your mic power supply into a Furman ss -6b outlet power strip compared to Furman power conditioner

    The TLM 103 has a clean buttery natural sound that none of the others come close to. My second choice is that ugly King Bee microphone...not bad for a cheap microphone.

    Looks great. I wish they would make the Yeti Pro in the US. Would be happy to pay another $50 for higher quality, especially if it's made here.

    Thank you for this comparative test. Is it possible to specify (if possible) the manufacturing place of the tested product each time ? All this mics are fine. For the voice, I appreciate the slightly blurred roundness of this Blue Mouse. On the other hand, it's the first time I've liked the TLM 103 so much! Usually I find it too bright. It's good to hear it at the end. I appreciate the level of detail of these two models...

    Really Nice contender to Nuemann for voice/podcast. I preferd it to the tlm103 on your spoken voice, sounds smoother

    I’m interested in the Blue Mouse, Shure KSM32, JZ V11 and Blue Baby Bottle mics. What are your thoughts on how these 4 mics compare?

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Vastly different price points aren't they?
      Baby Bottle SL = $320
      Shure KSM32 = $650
      JZ Vintage 11 = $900
      Blue Mouse = $1,250

    • @richardpenrose1968

      @@Podcastage Yes true. However from what I can tell, they all have a similar voicing with a smooth top end. I’m not a fan of overly bright mics as they can sound harsh and emphasise sibilance. If you were to pick one of these four mics primarily for vocals, what would you choose?

  • @matrixate

    They all sound good. I'll say Neumann first, the Mouse second, and NT1 third. Again, they all sound good but if I'm solution hairs, then this.
