    Ahh Madox started talking about the difference between Beatland and BBU and then it got derailed 😭. I think these kinds of discussions are super important because it’s the difference between beatboxing getting thousands of views vs millions and the scene is so stagnant right now.

    Beatboxers online start every routine with some vocal or semi melodical sound that they do to start a bar than they say random lyrics that don't make much sense in a strained voice and go off on a random tangent of sounds and sometimes come back to the melody they started with and think thats structure and musicality.

    • @bbenzbeats
      @bbenzbeats ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree bro, although the skill level is insane, I still prefer beat boxers who know music theory and use intricate musical ideas

    • @Beorn-Dash
      @Beorn-Dash ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bbenzbeats yeah. I also think that we have to acknowledge that a single musical instrument just doesn't sound as good as many together. It is hard to show all aspects of a musical idea with only one person beatboxing. That's why I prefer crew or beatboxers making music with non beatboxing artists. I think we need to promote that more

    • @IDontLikeHandIes
      @IDontLikeHandIes ปีที่แล้ว +1

      discord beatboxers all sound the same, repetitive whistles, throat bass spam (""musicality""), sub bass liproll at the end of the routine, tkk spam, and that goofy ahh vortex whistle spam😭

    cj has a weird and cool style, if he tries a more mainstream beat like house and especially trap, it would sound really good, I can see his sounds fitting really well in trap.

    17:00 i can understand what you guys are saying (especially Madox's reaction to that), but, on the other hand, this is CJ's style. It's evident that he already listened to this kind of feedback so many times and if you compare his 2020 videos to his stuff now, you can definitely notice that he considered the criticism and developed his structure big time (since before it was basically non-existent)
    however, i think the 'too many sounds' critique isn't really that deep anymore, he is one of the pioneers of that super newschool style (i can mention GTS, Xiphire, Lexomafo and Kingdom as some other different, but also possible examples) where his standard fillers are a fucking ducksound + pash laser among many other combos that literally nobody in the world can do.
    Napom reacted to that same video in a recent livestream and gave props to how CJ is making these hard ass complex routines more and more understandable with time, showing a significant development.
    in the end of the day, CJ is pushing boundaries in terms of textures, combos and sound design, and me and many other fans are here for it, as you can see in the votes for this battle. cj, you rock!!!
    obviously, that's not a critique to the podcast, i love your guys' content, but i think it's nice to be more open and broaden your horizons a little more, cheers 😊

  • @Beorn-Dash
    @Beorn-Dash ปีที่แล้ว +4

    CJ seems to think that the more weird sounds you can do the better chance of winning you have. This is the toxic culture that is killing beatbox we see coming out of the online battles.

    • @hisokabeatbox9053
      @hisokabeatbox9053 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      what is toxic about his style of beatbox? doesnt even make sense

    • @ameerhazim9495
      @ameerhazim9495 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont think its entirely bad to focus on special sounds. Mr Androide has shown a huge improvement after he learnt how to structure and place his special sounds right.
      CJ just need to refind his structure and implements dynamics more

    • @Beorn-Dash
      @Beorn-Dash ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ameerhazim9495 I still don't like Mr. Androide either. I want to listen to something that is relaxing and neither of them do that for me. It's just one thing to the other to the other. We act as though if you can do something no one else can then it makes you good and while in a battle that's it true it goes to prove the toxic battle culture I was talking about. I would rather hear someone who has thoroughly mastered basics doing a simple beat for an hour rather than a bunch of random noises strung together any day

    • @enmanuel1950
      @enmanuel1950 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're being overly dramatic there's absolutely nothing toxic about beatboxing a certain way. If he enjoys spamming difficult
      techniques that's his right and he can and should beatbox in whatever way he enjoys the most. You're the one being toxic telling other people what styles are ok and which aren't.
      This "toxic battle culture" is what has taken beatbox as far as it has. Competition breeds innovation, that's why there's so much creativity in the scene. Without the last 2 decades of beatbox battles the skill level would be way below what it is now.
      We do need festivals showcases and such but don't forget that a lot of the progress made in the scene comes from healthy competition and there's nothing toxic about that.

    • @sahaj366
      @sahaj366 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Beorn-Dash Well, not everything needs to suit your music style right? I agree about CJ, he's kind of the cliche online beatboxer, but imo there is a HUGE difference between him and Mr Androide. Mr Androide puts much more thought into the placements and structure
      You are totally right about the toxic battle culture though. People expect 'new' sounds or 'new' techniques in every round, which is exhausting for the artists - and it's less about sounding good. B-Art imo was far ahead in this battle, yet CJ is winning this currently - just proves that
