Moving the spring practices to summer eliminates the need for HS players to enroll early.
I think you can still keep spring practices but just allow freshmen/sophomores participate in structure practice while juniors/seniors help coach. Then the whole team can participate in the may to June OTAish practices before season.
Remember what Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss did last year for the Spring Game ?
True, but for Nebraska, not having a spring game is a massive thing.
Didn't hear about that but just looked it up. Kiffin emphasized player safety and that's essential. Our huskers basically lost a potentially starting DB for the season and a great WR prospect as well
@@CarnageUndone They must replace the traditional game with something. I imagine they could use the extra revenue for NIL deals. Maybe revenue sharing will cover some pay but I don't know specifics of the model
@ yeah we’ll see. It’s definitely a little bit sad as a kid I went to many.
I’ve been saying this for a few weeks now. I thought what Ole Miss did last year is the future of Spring Games.
Have a fun competition day for the players and fans to enjoy
The NCAA could fix all this by having one portal window only at the end of the season. After that everyone is locked in for the year.
Ari frequently suggests that only alumni of a school are the fans of that school. Does he think the people who didn’t go to college just aren’t fans of college sports? Does he think the huge swaths of the population that went to smaller colleges and universities just root for their D2/D3/NAIA/JuCo football programs and not the larger institutions in their state or a nearby state?
i hate it from a traditionalist point of view, i dont hate it from a pragmatic point of view. ncaa needs to rewrite how the transfer portal works and how colleges are allowed to recruit players in the portal because right now its completely out of control.
All scrimmages including spring game private. Televise a 7 on 7 instead. I think the value of O and D lines are extremely high so I wouldn’t let anyone see them
The whole point is letting no one get seen before the season especially with our wr room bunch of young very talented dudes
@I see your point but i feel like I can’t really grasp how good someone is during 7v7
It's literally easy if someone wants to spy on you especially with drones and outside practice fields plus it's a roster limit now most players going juco
That’s a paranoid mindset. Spring game is about the fans. He can opt not to televise it but if a kid wants to leave his program then they will. There’s no loyalty anymore. That’s just where we’re at.
We lost 2 players directly after the spring game, how is that paranoid
@ as long as there’s a portal open, guys will ponder if the grass is greener somewhere else. I think every program is cognizant of that reality. Like I said before, spring game is for the fans, but to not have it because he doesn’t want to showcase his team’s talent … well, that’s a bit much.
@@angieshelit’s a buisness why would he voluntarily show these other programs his guys this is a fact certain players would not be leaving if they didn’t get contacted before hand about a significant amount of money, so ya this is the correct move not paranoid mindset, if a fan wants to watch them they said they will have certain practices a fan can pay to go into but not aloud phones or anything when they enter
When you openly admit you & your staff are unable to retain talent.
its not about retaining talent, its about money. if rhule's staff finds a diamond in the rough that everyone else passed on, and then that kid's potential is publicly broadcast to competition during a spring game and he gets poached with some NIL deal that nebraska can't match, how is that the staff's fault?
