    The HD line are powerful surf casters! That 70/30 configuration makes it feel like you're throwing a 1pc rod.

    Hello. Love your channel. Great content. Question: What is the best reel for the rockaway 12' hd?
    I was thinking of the Daiwa BG 5000. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you...

    That rod looks great! Is that 10.5 foot rod that you hold on the video good for throwing lures as light as 1 ounce? Or is it made to throw heavier lures? Anyway, is that a heavy or medium heavy rod that you demo with on the video? Thanks if you could answer my questions! I'm looking to buy me a surf rod.

    Thanks for the video. Are the guide inserts an upgrade over the Solaris inserts? If you could chose one between the Rockaway HD vs the Solaris, which would be your pick?

    • @DaveysWorldFishing
      @DaveysWorldFishing ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question on the inserts . I can’t remember what the originally rods has. I think they were zirconium. The newer version has the aluminum oxide inserts. I haven’t had issues with either. Usually when one pops out it’s more about a knot or swivel hitting them or me dropping the rod. I haven’t had line digging or grooves on either.
      I like the Rockaway HD over the SSX simply because of the grip.

      @DaveysWorldFishing ปีที่แล้ว

      The Rockaway HD has a bit higher end components I believe. Both have the 70/30 split. You really can’t go wrong with either. I haven’t played with the HC’s yet…but need to 😜

    Sweet video! Do you find the rod is accurately rated for 2-6oz lures?… I’m having a hard time deciding between this and the 1-4oz 10’6 medium.

    • @DaveysWorldFishing
      @DaveysWorldFishing 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ben- I'd say they are pretty truly rated. I know Okuma sells a bunch of them, and I haven't seen or heard of any complaints on the ratings yet.

    QUESTION: I would like to start catching large stripers and blues. I am keen on the Okuma Rockaway HD as I got to see it and handle it in the store. That being said, I came across the Okuma Cedros CSX Surf Rod.....the Okuma Custom and Hawaiian Custom rods. The price points are similar and I do like the blue colors they come in. I will be using Penn Spinfishers 6500 and BQ 6000. For this application, which rod would be best?

    • @DaveysWorldFishing
      @DaveysWorldFishing ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Cedros CSX are very nice rods with the speed guides. The backbone is similar to the Rockaway rods. If you like the blue, the CSX would be perfect.

    hi Question what's the difference between 50/50 and 70/30. will it make me cast 10-25% farther with 70/30?

    • @DaveysWorldFishing
      @DaveysWorldFishing ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jeff. The difference is in the overall feel and strength. With the split further down the blank in the thicker part of the rod, it gives you more of a one piece feel where you can really load up on the cast or when fighting a fish. As far as casting distance, I haven’t heard one way or another on increase.

    • @DaveysWorldFishing
      @DaveysWorldFishing ปีที่แล้ว

      These rods are designed for big game from the surf. The biggest I have put on it is my 8000 size reel, but you certainly go bigger. 10k, 14k etc. they are well built with a lot of backbone, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 100lb GT coming in one one of these.
