Another great upload Peter. Thanks for sharing.Very vast and open looking.Like u say, wouldn't like to be out there in bad visibility in the pissing rain, lol.
Wouldnt even be near that place in the pissing rain Andy ha ha! Very vast and wild area behind that second Munro, Seemed to stretch on for miles. But all things said it was a great day out, Was good reading all the names on the wall in The Red Bothy. Cheers Andy hope all is well mate, peter.
Nice one Peter, another fine day out on the hills. I'm surprised that wee red hut is still standing. I done these in winter and those fence posts are handy. Cheers Robin
Thanks mate. Was a great day out, Really enjoyed these ones. More or less had them to myself, And the weather was perfect too :) Aye the wee bothy, I heard its been there for donkeys years now. Got some very old mentions on the walls, Hope it stands for a good few years yet. Only one left up there(Carn Dearg) will keep that for another time :) Thanks Robin, Take care big man. peter.
Lovely rolling hills Peter, like big Cheviots. Some grand views once high and bloody hell that deer was shifting must have been on a mission lol. Great video , 2 weeks and I'm North for 2 weeks, can't wait. Take care. Mick.
Aye it was certainly boggy like the Cheviot Mick, I was lucky to be there after a while of dry weather it would have been a bogfest a few weeks ago. Got a bit of a fright when it ran by me at the second summit, Must have been sitting watching me for ages! Hope you have decent weather this year Mick, Where are you heading to?

Was that a hare whizzing past? For a moment I thought it was a really fast deer! Haha. This looks like a really nice walk, and I love your photos of the wee red hut. I think it would make a good winter walk, despite the peat hags. Maybe they'd be frozen in winter.
After watching and re-watching i think it was a hare, But it was going like the wind whatever it was! It is a nice walk Natalie, The Monadhliath's live in the shadow of the Big Ones across the A9 and dont get the same attention sadly. But i think they are best avoided in wet times, Never seen peat hags like they ones before. Thanks Natalie, Hope you are well. peter :)
Thanks again Peter lovely strole. Our walks seem to coinside, you do 3000 feet plus. On the Somerset levels next week we should top out at 10 feet max. 😅 But in a very wet winter the same area could be 10 feet under water as it was five years ago 💦💦⛵
You certainly get the good weather! What's these past hags you keep mentioning?I'm thinking in bad weather you could get stuck in them or are they not that bad? As ever,I enjoy your videos and I look forward to other areas you're going to visit. Cheers Peter Ken
Peat Hags are an area of Peat that the grass on top has been somewhat eroded due to fire or flooding etc. It leaves the Peat/Soil uncovered and with heavy rain turns very muddy and marshy. They can be dodgy at times as sometimes they look safe to walk over, But are really very soft underneath and sometimes deep. I have fell into a few in my time and its not nice!!! Best is to wait for really hot weather to dry them out or cold as they will be mostly frozen over. Bloody nightmare is what they are ha ha!
Is that an actual bothy Peter? I suppose any shelter is good and a life saver when the weather turns. Those bogs are a pain, I don't like them either. It sounded as if you didn't want to go back home that day. Lol
No sure Glenn, Probably say no. Although it could be used as such if needed, Pretty small though so i wouldnt plan a meet up there lol! Did NOT want to head back, Was only just past noon when i was at the 2nd Munro. Was even going to try and bag Carn Dearg which was 3 hours walking away, But i couldnt get a phone signal sadly. But i shouldnt really complain i had a great day up there :) Cheers mate, peter.
Seems a huge empty space Peter think 3 people up there's a crowd lol. Desolate place in winter I'd guess. Surprised that hut been there since 1978 or before. Another good one where next?
Eddie the oldest name/date i read was 1929! I spent a wee while reading them all, I signed the wee book on the table and left the walls alone :) Aye it had a lonely feeling to it, I only saw a fit as a fiddle lassie going like the clappers miles ahead of me all day. Thats one thing about taking days off work and not going during the weekends, Not many others about. Next?
