The 'ssi' added to Jimin is just an honorific in korean! it basically is a polite way to respect your elders/equals :)
JK is the one who calls Jimin, Jimin-ssi. Which kinda just means Mr. JImin (its an honorific used when you wanna talk to someone formally and you dont know them that well so you address them respectfully) its funny cuz of how close Jimin and Kookie are.

I believe that he was more "quiet and shy" because back then every member had kind of a persona to play as idols, which is pretty common in the kpop industry. I mean, in every group there's always one who is the cute and charming one that attracts new fans with their visuals, one who is playful and sunny, etc. I don't mean that only one of them is charming, but there's always that one who stands out as the cool one, the cute one or the funny one, etc. Jin was given the cool, indiferente guy character that is very popular in kdramas, and Jimin was supposed to be the bad boy. Upon the time, they've grown out of those characters and became their true self. This is what I was told many years ago when I just entered the fandom, and I do believe that's the reason why Jin wasn't so easygoing and sunny at the beginning. However, if I'm wrong, I apologise.
@@threeillusionsinarow i think a part of it is that, but he also was like that originally. i think he wasn't very close with the members since he just met them. he is definitely an introvert, despite what many people think. he even got INTP on the mbti personality test! not only that, back then he was pulled out of his studies as a film major to become a trainee and learn to sing and dance from scratch. everybody else already had experience in music, but he literally got chosen because of his looks. i think he was nervous and was just a quieter guy and it bled into his insecurities about whether his looks were enough to push him up there, you know? i'm not 100% sure but i think that's what happened. 💜

Jimin-ssi it's pretty much same as saying Mr. Jimin or I guess it would be Mr. Park in english speaking countries I guess. It's a bit overly formal for another group member to say but formal and respectful However JK was always saying it in a very flirty tone to Jimin (sometimes still) and just saying Mr. Jimin instead of Jimin hyung makes it a bit flirty etc too. That's why all the laugh/giggles and shyness/blushing from Jimin.
But nowadays Jimin is often called Jimin-ssi by everyone. And if you listen to the Korean when people like interviewers etc. meet Jimin they use -ssi because it's respectful and correct, Park Jimin-ssi or Jimin-ssi, and not just for Jimin but anyone.
Also I recommend you just learn the Korean honorifics instead of english translations since they aren't used as you would the english translations in english like hyung can be translated to older brother but it's not used like older brother is in english.
