Tuned in to see the best of Chris Parnell, and was stoked to see the story about the top baker on the Titanic. I think I might be the only person who didn’t/doesn’t enjoy the movie Titanic (with Kate Winslet and Leo DiCaprio). But this story of the Titanic...is The Best.
When you watch Titanic, Kate Winslet looks to her left when she's standing on the top of the ship (before it sinks) and Joughin is there, looking back at her.
They were correct about the Titanic baker. He did actually toss women and children into the boat when they refused. He also was the last person standing on the ship before it was completely under water. When he said he stepped gracefully into the water he was explaining how there was no suction pulling him under like it did for others.
I guess we have very different definitions of living well. His reputation was trashed in both countries, and not even people in England trusted him. He tried to make a new life in Canada, but people there also distrusted him, which led to lawsuits. Over a decade after his betrayal, citizens in New Brunswick burned an effigy of him in his front yard. He moved back to England and sought the respect of the British military, but he never got it.
Not that I'm aware of. The most detailed account I've heard is a hungover gentleman named Lemuel Benedict ordered buttered toast, poached eggs, crisp bacon, and hollandaise sauce. The chef thought this sounded tasty, so he made a few alterations to arrive at this dish we eat today.
so as I understand it with the Charles Joaquin part. You should have background music Joan Boaz LOL I'll take the stairs. Get some love you guys stay blessed however you can!
General Benedict Arnold "The Traitor" was #5, i.e. "Benedict Arnold V". He was descended from my 10th great-grandfather Royal Governor Benedict Arnold (I), 1st Royal Governor of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. I am a Cousin to the General, not a Descendant. BUT Edgar Allen POE, was descended from General Benedict Arnold!
Thomas Edison was also my Distant Cousins. He was descended from American Colonists. But some chose the wrong side of the American Revolution, and had to flee for Canada! Later descended were involved in the Failed MacKenzie Rebellion in Canada (1837-38), and had to flee to - The United States!! So those American Colonial Genes came back to the United States! LOL
That baker guy is an absolute legend

Never seen it
I take pride in the fact that I've never seen Titanic.
the amount of times I quote "wow thats amazing I cant believe I invented that" on a weekly basis is kind of shocking
OCD?
I think we can be friends lol
As a professional baker, that "I am a pie" line from the Titanic chef placed in an oven...had me crying laughing.
That story about the Titanic baker? Wow. Epic.
Thanks to the cameraman who went back in time just to 📽️ this for us.
So that's how Nickelodeon got its name and how three powerhouses were made. At least I'm learning something.
Can we all just sit sit back and acknowledge how great Duncan Trussel is…I wish I could be that guys friend

Actually Benedict Arnold lived in England with his wife and his family very well for another 20 years before he died

Duncan trussell is my favorite narrator for this show hands down
Duncan Trussel killed it lol
The smartest man in the ship ❤❤
12:02 Where did that dog come from?😂
The fact that Thomas Edison copyrighted someone else’s invention and gets away with it is fcked up
he funded their research and gave them the equipment that allowed them to come up with the ideas. This is still really common.
There's a cameo by Charles McGill.
Hello
Winona is hilarious, love her
Ok, so did they name Eggs Benedict after him, or no?

The ship they're using as a stand-in for the Titanic during the life-sized portions is the Queen Mary docked in Long Beach, CA.
