Here are a few fun facts about the University of the Philippines Madrigal Singers. They won the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing TWICE in 1997 and 2007. The first of only 4 choirs so far, and they were awarded with the UNESCO Artist for Peace award in 2009
They actually have a conductor or choirmaster, in this case it's Mr. Mark Anthony Carpio. He is almost always on the leftmost side when facing the choir and conducts using head and mouth movements. Look closely :)
@@bryantpark88 Huh I didn't notice, thanks for pointing that out! Most of the people that I've talked to, including some high level choir members and a conductor, mentioned to me that they don't preform with one. Thanks for correcting my misunderstanding!
Choir: Philippine Madrigal Singers Song: "Paraiso" The choir mostly sings accapella. And their signiture is singing while singing down. They also sing when they eat out as a group. The song, "Para-iso", means Paradise, and talks about how for future generations their paradise is an polution-filled air that no birds can fly, or Trash field rivers. And also talks about how, for Children, even living in poverty with cans and plastic-bags as thier toys, and cover for the night. Very wonderfully presented. Thank you for your reaction.
