Really interesting topic. Im trying at the moment to find my personal style it is sometimes hard because you see so much online on tiktok or whatever and so you may be fooled into thinking that you like something but indeed you dont so i also feel like sometimes it is good to maybe go out and observe people and their sense of style to maybe take out something at their outfit that you like and note it for later. Also i have come to the conclusion that a person cannot choose one style they like. Sometimes it is ok to like a lot of different styles indeed and incorporate it to my everyday life. Haha so much to say about it but great great subject to tackle

I think you touched on a really great point here about consumerism and identifying what it is that we actually like or dislike? I have tried to also have periods of time consuming less in order to evaluate what it is that I actually like? But it can still prove to be difficult. I also agree we can all have different styles within us.

hi, i just wanted to share my 2 p as i came across this video and i am rlly intrigued w fashion content. when you started mentioning modesty and likening it so a natural, almost inherent concept everybody has, i feel like that is not the entire truth. i enjoyed the video when you stated that learning about your personal style is about doing some searching within and kinda reflecting your morals outwards, and i think this can be reflected in terms of modesty. modesty culture is a byproduct of patriarchy, the fact that men want to know 'whats underneath' is also a byproduct of patriarchy and objectification of women's bodies. therefore, how you are perceived is through a patriarchal lens of 'good modest woman' vs 'bad immodest woman' nd unfortunately this tends to dictate how women are treated. so yeah there really isnt an inherent natural truth of men being attracted to modest women but kinda out socialisation framing them as more desirable. furthermore i think its harmful to state ' if you are wearing less, men will objectify you/treat you badly and that is okay, it is natural' i think that for very obvious reasons in the way it comes across and the sentiment its spreading.
ultimately, i understand dressing modestly is a personal choice and this is not to critique the choice, but just to add context and quite frankly my opinion, ig.

Hey Kitty, Thank you for taking the time to write this, I really do appreciate your take in adding some context and can completely understand where you are coming from. Naturally, I can only speak on my own experience when talking on these topics, when saying that 'men naturally want to see more, and that's okay' I would disagree that this is necessarily a 'byproduct of patriarchy' as I would say this idea has existed long before anyone ever used that term. The nature of a man to want to see more of a woman has existed ever since humans were put on this earth, we can't procreate without it. I think that comes from a place of understanding how a mans mind works. By no means did I insinuate that it is okay for them to be inappropriate or insult a woman because of that, but I believe it is natural for a man to look at a woman, if she is wearing less clothes and think of their sexual desires, whether we like it or not, our bodies priority is always procreation and therefore certain hormones will arise when a man sees a woman in a certain way. By no means does this mean men should ever be disrespectful. When you understand the human body and how that is what a lot of our impulses come down to, I think you can understand more so where I am coming from. I think naturally your view on this topic may also differ depending on your view on men and woman in society in general and what you believe their roles should be. I can completely understand why this may be the case and either way have really appreciated you taking the time to write this, I have enjoyed digesting your comment and trying to see the other side of this argument.

I also do agree that how you dress tells us a lot about you but nowadays when a lot of people don't dress for who they are it makes it a lot harder e.g. private school boys in tech fleeces can be a bit confusing and not a true representation of who they are - this is just a way of dressing that people think is cool

Yes and culture is everything, people want to feel a part of experiences that they don’t fit in with, which I guess is a somewhat natural part of the human experience to be liked / belong. However I definitely agree, authenticity will get us further and represent us better.
