    I really like the soft edges. I feel that it works in certain use cases to bring in attention to the centre. Obviously if we're talking about objective quality, then this lens isn't going to stun you, but it creates this dreamy look which I like.

    Nice touch starting the video already using it. I was surprised how usable the quality is in the center of the image. This will probably be way better with an APS-C crop.

      @@AndrikLangfield Thank you. All good. Do these screw on the filter threads? I wasn’t sure if that’s how they work. I have a 67mm filter thread lens so I’d guess I’d need to find one with that size threads.

    The extent of degradation of IQ depends on the specific lens and converter combination. I found that the Vivitar 0.43x 58mm Wide Adapter with Macro works great on the old cheap Nikon AF 28-80 f/3.3-5.6 G full-frame plastic lens from the end of the 35mm film era, but not that well with anything else I had on hand. It might work well with the Canon EF 28-80 also - I didn't have one to test. However, on the Nikon AF 28-80 it is pretty sharp edge-to-edge even on FX bodies - converting it to a 12-35 ultra-wide zoom with very slight vignetting at 28 x 0.43 that goes away at 30 x 0.43. There's no detectable vignetting and minimal CA with this combo on DX bodies. The only minor downside is that the 28-80 requires a body with the spindle-motor AF drive, but manual focus works on any body with focus confirmation in the viewfinder. Highly recommended for an ultrawide combo with acceptable IQ that doesn't break the bank - one can experiment on composition, framing, technique, etc. *before* splurging big money on a real full-frame ultrawide. I spent about ~$15 on the 28-80 and another ~$15 on the Vivitar 0.43x, both pre-owned in ex++ condition, and it's probably the best ~$30 I've invested in FX glass, ever.

    How about adapting this to a macro lens.

    • @AndrikLangfield
      @AndrikLangfield  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Great idea, I had never tested it and just did to see what would happen and the results were pretty cool. The only macro lens I have is the apsc 60mm 2.8 by Canon so what I did was I adapted the Canon 60mm 2.8 on my FX3 so it did have a little vignetting which is manageable and then put a x.06 wide angle adapter and it worked really well. The close focus was inside the wide angle lens meaning I focused on the dust on the front of the wide angle adapter and beyond it, so for example I placed it facedown on my cellphone and focused right up to the screen, if that makes sense, and then made my phone screen go out of focus by focusing closer than that. lol thanks for the idea, I'll definitely be using that combo more often 👍🏼

    • @AndrikLangfield
      @AndrikLangfield  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't personally tried it on a 28mm, is the 28mm on a full-frame camera? You'll definitely get vignetting like in the video, I had it on a 35mm on a full-frame sensor but just cropped it in a bit to remove it.
