I agree with the general direction of the video. However:
1.) If you follow 5x5 you're going to max out much quicker than with SS, because of the high volume
2.) Although Mark hstrongly disagrees, I would incorporate deloads once in a while. Possibly stepping away from the barbell exercises altogether and training with machines at a higher rep range. Also pay close attention to any minor pains after working out and start incorporating mobility exercises as you go. I made the experience that little issues tend to grow into bigger ones if you don't adress them.
3.)Instead of bicep curls, do Lat pull downs or better yet chins (inverted grip for bicep integration and more strength) or barbell row (already in 5x5; btw. these should be done from the floor ;-) ). the reason being: These are compund lifts and per se better in terms of linear progression. Load the chins once you can do 3x5 with a belt.
4.) Similarly for triceps, I would recommend French press. Look up the variant by Mark Rippetoe, which IMO is also a really nice assistant exercise for the Bench. These can be done reasonably heavy.5.) Don't forget to eat! These programs only works if you put in the fuel your body needs. Every meal should consist of Meat, Vegetables and Carbs. Learn how to cook and stop eating out!
6.) If you have the money to spare get a coach to teach you the *lowbar* squat. If you got more money to spare have them teach you the other lifts as well. Although you may think this is unnecessary hear me out: It is notoriusly difficult to teach oneself how to squat and deadlift, because one cannot wathc oneself in the mirror while doing it, without breaking the form or learning incorrect form. Even if you do succeed, you'll be starting to get stronger / buiild muscle much faster, if you have someone teach you the lifts. If you can't afford a coach, grab a copy of starting strength, it contains very well thought out instructions for every lift.

My Mrs wants to get back into her walking and I am pleased with that. I have convinced her to start weights as well. Is this suitable for her to get the hour glass look she is asking for or will it bulk out her torso and not create the waist snatch for her?
