  • Just a quick beginner set of guards and strikes for German Longsword along with their German and English names. This was made to help students study in their spare time.
If you are interested in getting into HEMA, we hold classes on German Longsword, Italian Rapier, British Military Saber and Highland Broadsword in the Silverdale/Poulsbo area of Kitsap County Washington.

This would deserve a follow up Part I and II:
    I) Working from the bind
II) how to pommel a dude in armour...

There are definitely more on the way, I'm kind of moving between longsword, rapier and saber videos. Longsword is definitely coming due for a part 2 : D

Hi, I can´t say I do not like your techniques at all (they look good), but in every piece you demonstrate you move your body before the blade. It is strong signal for your opponent and basically an invitation for counterstrike. It should´nt be so obvious you are starting an attack, unless you are feinting or countertiming. In classic Vorschlag first forward moving part should be tip of your sword and your hands and body should move forward after the blade is already heading towards target.

Absolutely. For me, "Sword First" is an immutable law in my school. I work very hard at it, still not perfect.
