I am using Starling bank account. Simply superb, and had no issues/complaints. I had this account since 1 year now. And their app is outstanding.

You have a business account with them or just a current account?
Business bank accounts for limited companies but you need to discuss the bank type with them for properties in your own name.
I have just started to invest in a BTL and am looking at some properties. I was going to open an account with Starling Bank. But they such a pain in the neck. During the application process they wanted me to show documents and evidence of means for purchasing the property. For heaven sake why? They are worst than a mortgage lender. Why do they need these proofs? Surely, its up to my conveyancing solicitors to see to these matters. It's not as if I am applying any mortgage from them. All I want is just to open a simple business account for my rental income to be deposited and to pay any outgoing cost such as Surveyors, small repairs costs..
Too much hassle.. will forget Starling Bank and go to TIDE Bank instead.

Surely those checks from Starling Bank that you are complaining about are the AML checks (Anti money laundering) that all UK banks have to do when dealing with property transactions? They are not specific to Starlilng.
I have tried opening for my property business since last year December!! (I have given up)They are the worst for property.
I am in the process of setting up a bank account with Tide so far it’s taken almost a week, I thought it was supposed to be easy.😡
It normally is to be fair. Do make a complaint. The so called big banks will take up to 3 months so do t give up on Tide or try Starling

I do agree. As expats in any country you are exploited to a degree. The good news is that in three years time you will get the same benefits as a mainland resident. It is about taking the short-term pain for the long-term great again. Hang in there
Not sure why you dont want to name particularly offending banks as that would help other people.
In terms of my experience I have business account with Metro bank that I opened a few years ago. I personally didnt have to try and reach their customer service so cant comment on that, but what I can say is that they dont have freeagent support (accounting software) which makes things a bit inconvenient compared to other banks. So probably would not recommend as they are not very technologically advanced. The BB loan with them was very quick and easy though.
