These people don't need a storage shed, they need to rent a 40ft dumpster.

    • @paleghost
      @paleghost 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

These repos seem always be in the middle of nowhere. Getting trash/garbage pickups are probably very expensive. One strategy would be to buy a shed, fill it with trash/garbage, stop making payments after it's full and have the repo man haul it away. Rinse and repeat.

    • @paleghost
      @paleghost 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

Oh - that is what they are doing. Josh gets the sheds loaded in nothing flat. He spends more time waiting on the debtors to get their stuff out. In this one the 2 guys are wasting time picking through the crap on the floor. Maybe a good idea for Josh to carry a broad snow shovel as part of his kit. Once the debtors get all the big stuff out Josh could use the shovel to push the stuff on the floor out the door. The debtors could peruse the stuff without wasting Josh's time.

@@theonetruepatriot6101Exactly. The nice Cadillac shows they aren't completely destitute, but these people obviously don't take care of or appreciate anything they get. That car will look like the interior of the shed within months. Being poor does not mean living like pigs and leaving your mess for others to take care of!
Also what irks me is that they know he is coming to repo the shed, yet they laze around and wait for him to get there and he has to move eighteen thousand things before he can move the shed! I have no patience with people like this. They are their own worst enemy yet blame anything and everything on others and on circumstances. No pride, no respect for themselves or others. You wonder how human beings evolved into this.

@@henrikstenlund5385 fix this, do that up... tomorrow... gotta clean up that shed first... ah... do it tomorrow... omfg, footy on TV! that cant wait til tomorrow! beer! pizza! bongs! i can have that all NOW!
i know exactly what its like. one tries to only hoard stuff that can be used... hydraulics, machine tools... interesting lumps of metal...
but then you have no horizontal surfaces, no shelving, no storage, got piles of stuff in the corners, touch anything and random stuff at the opposite end is falling down, bang bang clang..
know what you have but spend the day simply looking for that strip of steel you saw the other day and "put aside somewhere safe"... five minute jobs become two days of frustration. try and clear it out, toss this, toss that... had this for twenty yeas, i aint used it yet... piss it off... next week, as the truck drives down the road?? ahhh GODDAMN IT! i fecking had one of those!
you gotta step back occasionally... does this bring me joy? and what happens when im no longer here to place value on it?
one day i have to throw away all those thousands of dollars my mother spent on pointless books and DVDs, mostly of WWII... just junk, really. whats it all for? someday someone has to pick through all those bits and pieces i have kicking around... all junk basically, given to me... what value? its only in my mind it has value... until i try to buy any of it and suddenly ts become an asset more valuable than gold...
like all the blankets and clothing in there... aint ever going to use it again, got too much, but you cant take ten minutes tearing them into rags, or taking them to the charity bin in town (you guys get them over there?), or even just bundling them up and tossing on the fire over winter... but then you go and see how much new bedding is and you think... i already got sheets... so they stay in limbo...rags? mould habitats? or saving money?
ended up with so much junk you cant move for all the junk... gets depressing, when you seemingly spend your time moving stuff around and nothing else... its easier to just veg out, watch TV, and dream...
i really liked the "morel" these guys had in their...erm... garden? that mushroom statue ;) could make stuff like that, just need a chisel...slab of wood... got the chisel... somewhere. think its in that pile over there? timber... hmmm... nah, thats holding up the house, dammit...
and while its utterly useless... you know it just might be the one thing they own that survives for a few generations? someone will latch onto it, whether its sold, thrown out, or dumped somewhere... then once its sat in their garden for a while, someone else will grab it...

Just out of curiosity, I googled shed companies that give the "rent to buy" option.
Here is a sample text from one of the websites:
    -No Security Deposits
    -No Credit Checks
    -No Fees for Early Payoffs
It's no wonder so many of these sheds are repossessed. They are being sold to "down and outs", deadbeats and losers. The companies selling them are well aware of what they are getting into. There's an incredible mark-up on these cheaply constructed boxes and my guess is the heavy turn-overs in ownership just pad the profit margin for the sellers.
-This, of course, doesn't excuse deadbeats from making timely payments, but it does indicate that the companies intentionally market to them.

Some people don't appreciate anything. I remember my mom bought my brother and sister-in-law a set of silverware when they got married. My sister-in-law's mother wanted us to all pitch in and buy them a set on their 25th anniversary. I asked my brother what happened to the set my mom bought them and he said that his wife let the kids dig in the yard with them and she just threw them away. I still have my set and I don't think I have used them more than 30 times since 1966. I cherish them and they are in a wooden protective case. There are no pieces missing. I guess I am obsessive about somethings. When my husband got Dementia he would throw away a piece of our everyday silverware and I could tell if some were missing so I would go online and get replacement pieces every once and awhile. LOL

Similar to the knife thing: We had a renter that was a hoarder. Top to bottom of house absolutely full of garbage and stuff. She had over 3 months to get out of the home (no rent paid for 3 months) as she lost welfare benefits for violating their rules. Well, she even got government help to move ALL her junk out. Took the poor "helper" lady like 3 weeks. Then, the renter kept calling us looking for a dish (one dish). I said I had nothing like that, plus she had other help getting her stuff out. She called us many times and we kept telling her NO DISH. A sorry state. Really. Kind of sad.

feel free to add your comments below.
The camper located behind the shed, it probably has some odd smells such as:
    1. Feet that haven’t been washed since the last time it was raining and now smell like peaches.
    2. Dirty pee stained underwear and also look like a BMX race track in the rear of them.
    3. Leftover Sauerkraut from 83 days ago
    4. Overloaded ashtrays
    5. Chew spit containers everywhere including current coffee cups being used for both.
    6. Dirty plates from a party 9 weeks earlier
    7. Sour/moldy towels
    8. Depressed & Happy Couch Farts
    9. Overflowing garbage cans
    10. Dog poop on the floor
    11. Sweaty 11 day worn mismatched socks
    12. Sweaty baseball caps
    13. Unchanged litter box from 1993
    14. Expired food in the fridge
    15. Moldy bread ends in a semi open bread bag
    16. Generations of Fruit flies
    17. Unflushed toilet
    18. Sweaty Couch pillows from dude with no shirt
    19. Bed blankets that have never been washed
    20. Jeans that have been worn for 216 days in a row without ever seeing the washing machine.
    21. Bed pillow that has no pillow case but a huge head sweat stain
    22. A microwave that has no idea that washrags exist
    23. A Covid ridden tv remote that has only been used by booger picking hands from 4 people
    24. Shared pajamas between all 3 men
    25. Telephone receiver mouth piece that has a mixture of chew spit, sweat and beard bumbles on it.
    26. Old hotdog water in a pot on the stove from 3 months ago that also doubles as potato boiling water
    27. Beard, hair and chew clumps in every sink drain.
    28. Finger nail piles and boogers on every part of the old cable spool they’re using as a coffee table
    29. Stinky car keys from picking loads of wax from all 3 peoples ears living in that camper
    30. A pickled egg that rolled under the broken sofa 13 days ago that they’ve been sleeping on.
    31. Sweaty shared belt buckles that have been tucked gently under the bellies of all 3 men at some point not including two visitors that stayed with them for a few days when they were released from prison.

I thought I was bad keeping some off cuts of wood (for when I build little hardware items), some mismatched nuts and bolts / screws but this takes the cake.
I'm amazed at how much rubbish / trash is in there. The only useful thing I saw was a whipper snipper (garden tool), table, ladder , water container and some soda cans (can trade in the aluminium) if enough but only worth it if the place is close enough. .
In place of the expensive shed , I would have just ordered a dumpster where 98% of the stuff would have gone and got taken away. With the remaining money, I would have just got a small shed (3 x 3 feet) to store anything useful .

      Yes, they do.
I have a friend that’s a hoarder, constantly buying up storage unit lots.
I told her I was looking to buy a necklace and she brought me 18!
But sadly, they’re all old and cheap. I know her heart is in a good place, but keeping stuff you cannot use or even resell just doesn’t make any sense.

I wish I had the chance to explore the channel a bit before we met, because I would have had a lot of questions about it.
I'm wondering, for example, what this type of work is like in the harsh winter months.
