Gengar had the advantage in speed and type. Blastoise would've need Gengar to try and put it to sleep like 3 times.

Let's get an imperialism on X or Moon or something with all Pokémon being similar BST. While the upset happened here, there was only 1-2 ways Pikachu could've even had a chance. Plus later games give the cpu better plays. Won't use thunder wave if the other is already paralyzed.

before it gets popping i'm going to go ahead and guess that Alakazam wins. He is one of the undisputed strongest in generation 1, his speed is top tier and his attacks hit almost everyone either effectively or super effectively along with his monster special stat which also gives him good defenses against many of the other Pokémon especially the very few who can outspeed him. Also he is one of the few pokemon not completely cucked by the pokemon stadium rental move sets, where it not for the rental move sets I would go for Taurous as anyone who knows generation 1 would probably do the same in the absence of mew and mewtwo.
