The reason why the blade needed to possess Kazuha to do the forging is because the Isshin art was essentially lost to his family about 2-3 generations ago (his great-grandfather stopped the family forging business and refused to teach his grandfather).
The blade remembers how to forge the Isshin way by watching his creator.
Although the blade itself is pretty much useless, it is still an Isshin blade and can be used for reference for future blades.
This story quest is basically to allow Kazuha to forge Isshin blades in the future.
Maybe down the line we will get a 5 star sword forged by Kazuha

I agree with everything other than getting a f2p 5 star sword , I mean it took them literally 1.7 years to give us a 4star weapon in a story quest.

Kazuha’s story quest was great, and I was in to his past history shown here based on his samurai arts, great to relive it again from you Kage!
Since we decided to waste time at a detective agency, despite everyone looking for Kazuha being established... Why couldn't we have gone to see his bud, Heizou?
Yeah, it's strange that they chose not to add Heizou in anywhere despite mentioning he had a connection to Kazuha and such. I really hope Heizou plays a role at some point...

Apparently Heizou works with the Tenryou Commission, not the agency, and they didn't try checking them I guess. But still I wanted to see them interact since they are supposedly good friends.
Edit: Actually now that I think about it, maybe he was on watatsumi island
The sword in the quest dealing less and less damage is intentional both by the passive which lowers DMG dealt by 50% and that after the first fight, it has it's stats lowered by HALF

Fun facts:
When you fight the blade, it will cause mini Kazuha bursts and that's how Traveller recognises it as the same sword style. When you use the sword on the trial Kazuha, the blade actually loses stats and refinements as it gets worn down. It really does become outclassed by a standard fillet blade!
Sadly it´s useless (or very bad) after you finish the quest. Imagine if instead of Atk % it gave EM

Am I the only one who thinks with all the Kazuha content we are getting in genshin, all the character progression we have seen etc.. That they're setting him up to die against Scaramouche in the future?
I can just imagine that they make the mistake of running that storyline just before Scara's banner drops and then sit there confused as to why not as many people pulled for him when everyone was running around screeching about how much they wanted Scara since his first appearance.

There's not enough foreshadowing for that imo. All of Kazuha's stories so far (including this story quest) were meant to address how he has moved on from his past, including moving on from how Scaramouche ruined the Gokaden; so Kazuha has no reason to confront Scaramouche. Plus, Kazuha is literally descended from the same family as Scaramouche's only friend, so it makes it less likely that Scaramouche would do any harm to him.
In fact, I remember feeling kinda sad for Kazuha at the end of Irodori Festival, as it felt like he no longer has any goal or ambition to work towards, like an aimless guy. Thankfully, this gets addressed in both the new GAA event (where he comes to terms with his regrets and this very 'emptiness'), as well as this story quest (where he gets a new goal, which is to retrace the journey taken by this sword).
I saw a lot of people saying that they didn't like this story quest that much, and I can kind of see why... it's not very emotionally driven. But narratively it helps to set up Kazuha's new goal, and gives him something to work towards. That's also probably the reason why THIS is a story quest, while the GAA story is kept as an event quest, since the GAA quest is just repackaging stuff that we already know about Kazuha.
I don't think that Kazuha is going to die. I think Scaramouche would be dumbfounded and probably won't harm him because he has his only friend's face

We have faced Ei twice, we are fighting Shogun every week, but everyone is praising Kazuha for stopping one attack...
The difference is probably just that he had witnesses while we didn't, since our fights took place on the plane of eutymia (or however it's spelled)
I mean, we're technically famous enough as it is since people in inazuma have mentioned knowing of our tales from Liyue and Mondstadt
Kazuha also saved our butts which ensured we could even step in to help deal with Ei. Kazuha is a normal guy while we are known for crazy exploits in Liyue and Mondstadt, and to be fair both times we publicly were before the Shogun we had to be saved by someone else before we could be killed.
@@lacytaylor1501 I'm not sure about that. Yes, the scene looked like she was going to strike us but she "let us go" after the Signora fight and I'm sure she did not mean only till the main gate. I think the scene was made this way but in reality, we were not the target of her strike. Remember that there were a lot of people attacking the palace while all the guards were KO by Sara.
@@Czarniak4 She said she'd let us leave for now. We left the building then she struck. She was not planning on letting us live, neither when Thoma saved us or when Kazuha did. Remember she wanted to pretty much put us on the statue with the other visions as another symbol of her pursuit to eternity. She appeared directly behind us, the whole time we are walking back to where she eventually attacks, she's preparing to attack us which is why the traveler is struggling.
