Andhra Pradesh stands at a pivotal moment in history today as, after five years of misgovernance that landed the State in deep financial troubles, the time has come to rebuild it and fulfil the trust reposed in us, Governor S. Abdul Nazeer has said. Delivering his Republic Day speech after unfurling the national flag amidst much fanfare at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium in Vijayawada on Sunday, Mr. Abdul Nazeer recalled the State’s predicament seven months ago. The fiscal mismanagement was so deep that a vote on account had to be presented for the first time. “The State was burdened by unpaid liabilities, stalled projects and a broken governance structure. It is our moral duty to understand and inform the people about the true extent of damage done to the State during the previous regime,” he said.
