There is a general 101, use the fricking stage. This guy just stands there, yeah, he moves a tiny bit. Even on the stairs, the actors move (sometimes they play up the costume's appearance and scare the guests, or a sarcastic little wave to them, etc), the staging, I think it's supposed to be in the ballet halls, which if you've seen the Garnier, there is no space in the foyer for a ball, a party maybe but not a full blown ball, only in the ballet halls. I don't mind this staging too much, and don't come at me with the "I'm not a real fan if I enjoy this" I've loved phantom since I was six, saw it in London when I was 8 with Earl Carpenter in the role.
It's the restage production I think the going for realism. But what they really do it's destroying the original. Where is the stairs? Where is the extra dancers? I thought the lyrics talking about a spectacle but yet haven't seen any.
Agree. I want the one Ramin Karimloo wore in the 25th Anniversary. BUT! I disagree with the comments saying they're "destroying the original. This production was sooo cozy!! Exactly the breath of fresh air it needed after such a long run with the same old set. Though I do wish the stairs (at least one staircase) would make a return in Masquerade. Honestly, Masquerade is one of my least favourite numbers in the whole show, so it's not much to me. But 'Why So Silent' definitely wasn't as menacing here as in other productions.
you throw a BIG masquerade party, but only twelve people turn up....Sadly I would not pay money to see the restaged production, they have stripped too much from it. Compare this to the clip titled "Anthony Warlow - Why So Silent" - that one is terrifying!
The slow stepping down the stair case is gone.. they could have emphasized that in his "entrance" by doing a stylized "march" to emphasize the beat... Unless I am just so used to the "original" choreography that is why I am saying this... but this sucks! and no skull mask for the Red Death? booo!! his costume I can live with it :)
This scene only makes me enjoy the brilliant original even more!
Man that was sad

"Your voice is still mine"? What happened to "Your chains are still mine"?
And to the 5 drumming sounds before why so silent?
I don’t know… it feels cramped and stiff. But I they singing is good!
The red death costume here is soooo underwhelming
One of the worst outfits I have ever seen. Not impressive, not scary at all.
Agreed.

the original is the best

Where is the staircase? What a sad downgrade.
