I saw Eddie live at the Garick in Leigh in the 70's he had the crowd in stitches for 5 mins and hadnt said a single word, he had such a presence, an hour and a half of solid laughter. He never told a single joke he just told storys of real life what an observer. He is well missed. RIP Eddie.
About 1971 I had just left school was working for a building company, we were working in his house, opposite Kensington park Liverpool remember him and his wife were brilliant, just ordinary nice people.
This guy is fabulous! He must surely be one of the early alternative comedians , he is absolutely hilarious. Brilliantly funny, a genius who has obviously been forerunner of today's comedy
I saw Eddie a good few times in '70s Manchester and he was a truly great comic. Anyone who can't understand any regional accent (if you're not foreign) must be dense.
this man is pure genius and was born out of his time. As one correspondent said some time ago on another site - 'John Bishop - watch and learn you amatuer'... Many comedians these days are simply not funny. If you want the latest c**k jokes then go for the Bishops of this world.
He was 2 when he moved, then spent 19 years in runcorn then 23 years in manchester, he's a wool with a phony accent, he knows nothing about liverpool, he's more manc than anything else, end of
BTW everyone , scouse ( Liverpool ) accent sounds Irish , but it's different , and I can understand it easily , maybe as my Granpa sounds a bit like it but it aint difficult anyway except if English aint your 1st language I guess .
***** sorry about your nan, it must suck you never saw her . I have got some Irish ancestors aswell . lol, Liverpool is like a Irish city in the middle of England if it has so many Irish n it explains the accent.
+XxpauldadudexX Actually, the Scouse accent is very close to the North Wales accent. Given Liverpool's heritage there will be some Irish in there somewhere, but the primary influence is North Welsh.
One in four people in Liverpool were born in Ireland according to the 1860 census. Yeah, its a mixture of Welsh and Irish, but mainly Irish. Look in our phone book to see the ratio of Irish to Welsh names?
+scouserla1 True, but in terms of the accent, rather than the demographic/ethnic aspect, North Welsh is the primary contributor. There were loads of Irish immigrants to London throughout the 19th century, but they had little effect on the London ("Cockney*) accent.
Do you understand the history of Liverpool? As I've stated, 25% of it's population was born in Ireland back in 1860. No doubt that percentage rose even further during the early 20th century because Liverpool was the busiest port in the world. Only Boston has more Irish descendants, which means we have more Irish stock than London. And London's population is at least 15 times larger than Liverpool's.
My granpa is from the Wirral , nearby Liverpool and his older brother was a comedian who knew this guy. Anyway he told me to look at this guy vids and sorry man but he sucks , I never laughed once or I couldn't understand why the audience are laughing even before the sposed funny parts ???? PS , lmfao , I said his hair looks terrible n he told me '' what hair , it's a wig '' ? hahahaha NOW THAT'S FUNNY xD
Actually Eddie Flanagan was brilliantly funny. Liverpudlians would appreciate him, and his type pf humour. He was a heck 0f a nice guy too. My dad knew him. Too bad that comedy is sometimes only appreciated, these days, if there is plenty of swearing and cursing and sexual inuendo. Eddie was a typical scouser. Nice guy.

He's Class!!
Great clips, thx!
Brilliant
The greatest of all time and I keep saying it every time I see him so sorry for repeating myself but not really.
no doubt about it, northerners in the 1970s made good comedians if not by the way they talk but by attitude to life.
Except this guy, he just isn't funny.
@@munchkin5224 Are you ill?
that good he made the other comedians laugh! always my favourite.
class comedian
I thought it was Jim bowen with hair at first lol
The relay race cracked me up !!
70s wa great times.
It's like watching a dinosaur rise up from the Earth and let rip an enormous fart.

I'm laughing more at the way he's telling the jokes than the punchline.
The resemblance to Micky is uncanny!!! Haha

Bernard was good alright.
Sorry not funny.
Classic stuff....
humor is really subjective, I find this guy annoying
Very true, really long winded.
Sorry but I don't find this guy funny, and I grew up watching some of the best comedians during the 70s/80s.
that first joke was awful!!
Absolute rubbish. That must be a laugh track.
No it's not it's a live audience I remember watching this
