    We are picking up our Bernaddoodle puppy in a few weeks and plan to groom him. I grew up with a mom that was a groomer and took care of our families Standard Poodles. Found your video super helpful!

    How patient is this dog???!!! 💚 We are think of getting a Sheepadoodle or a Bernedoodle at some point in the future… This is inspiring, but your dog must be one of the best behaved dogs on earth. My god, even the bum area!!!! 😂

    Professional groomer here, something that I think would be sooo helpful (and a lot more comfortable for you!) when you're scissoring is getting some silicone inserts for your shears. They come in different sizes so you can try out a few and see which fits you best. Your thumb should just barely be resting inside the hole and your hand would be able to be a little more open/natural looking vs. scrunching it and your thumb should be the only part that opens and closes the shear. It's kind of hard to explain, but if you watch some videos from professionals, you'll get a better idea of what you're aiming for. If you're ever wanting a career change, you'd make an awesome groomer!

      Agree . Also it looks like you have your pinky finger through the finger hole. If you put your ring finger through that hole instead, your pinky will rest on the finger rest and it should also help. :)

      @@paigeg8731 haha wow I don’t know why I was doing that! I did get the plastic guard things for my fingers and they fit much more comfortably!

    Boy I hope my 7 month old Bernedoodle pup Cooper settles down as nice as your pup! We brush him daily and use a toy to distract him from fussing with us as we brush him out.

    We have an F1 Standard Bernedoodle but we don’t have her fur cut, just sanitary area and paws. Why do people cut them. My groomer says it will ruin their fur. To keep her matte free I do brush her several times a week but her fur stays really nice.

  • @Dot0011
    @Dot0011 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't brush my bernadoodle before I cut. I just bathe, wait till dry. Use an Oster golden A5 and a 1/2 inch metal blade.

    We are getting a mini in a couple weeks. She will be 8 weeks old. We have the Chris Christianson slicker brush to keep her mat free any other suggestions?

      that’s what I use! if I ever get really bad mats I will use this to break them down then the slicker brush to get them out: Poodle Pet Dematting Fur Rake Comb Brush Tool - with Long 2.5 Inches Steel Safety Blades for Detangling Matted or Knotted Undercoat Hair. www.amazon.com/dp/B0731NJKCG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_WRF24NHGPS81S375PZ0H

    Hello.. I love your videos with Luca. I have a few questions about Luca. How was he as a puppy and biting? I have an almost 5 month old Bernie and he continuously bites!.. my son which is 11 gets the worse of it. Not sure if it’s normal behavior but we can pet him without having scratches and scars. I don’t know what to do.

    • @newlevelsofsuccess
      @newlevelsofsuccess 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Puppies nip and bite a lot. They will out grow it. It’s part of the teething process as well as learning about the world. What helped me with my 5 month old puppy was bully sticks, Kongs and lots of redirecting to play. It’s a lot of work but I have less biting. Also, letting the puppy play with other puppies helps too.

      I echo everything that was said above! Luca had a month or two as a puppy where he bit me constantly!

    Couple questions, do you bath him/her before or after grooming? And is there a good age to start grooming for a young Bernie.

    • @thegroomroomwithluca8914
      @thegroomroomwithluca8914  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bathe him first! Then blow dry. I started at maybe 4 months? I bathed and blow dried every other week starting at 3 months to get him used to it

    Do you notice a difference in performance between plastic and steel guards

    • @thegroomroomwithluca8914

      yes. I am actually switching to plastic now since the steel wears down the blades. performance wise it’s similar!
