    I’ve never played Axis & Allies, but had your video recommended to me by the TH-cam algorithm. Very entertaining and thoughtful production. I’d watch a game breakdown weekly!

    Another great video. Loved the part 1. I have tried to watch people go play-by-play before and the pictures really helped keep me following along. More of a great thing will always be great so more commentary more thoughts on the meta is always great.

    Great coverage. I like your Japan FIrst Strategy, this seems very strong (at least in Tournament play). I hear you talking a lot about chances and (bad) luck. Over course overall the better palyer will win most of the times, but especially in tournaments it might be beneficial to have a meassurement of overall luck.
    I would be very interested in discussing how you can meaning full aggregate all those little and large battles, with some being meaningless, some being decisive, while even super small battles might have a strategic swing to them.

    A loved watching this I'm a big fan of the game. Me and my brother played for years. And winning from the axis point of view was always our favorite and somewhat challenging as compared to playing with the Allies in my opinion.

    I watched the Game 1 video. Was well edited and I thought the commentary was pretty spot on. For a few battles I would have liked to see the order of losses chosen. Because say in SZ 45 you guys had some solid dice, but am wondering if the Japan player saw the danger coming and lost the Carrier in an attempt to save the fleet? Or even in Round 1, did your German opponent lose the Bomber first in an attempt to save the Ukraine??? Only seeing the final results of the battle doesnt tell us that, though you could have even just said it too and that’d work.

    • @BoardGameNation
      @BoardGameNation  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I had that thought as well, but that wasn't a detail I was able to capture table side. I was scrambling to take pictures and play at the same time. A tricky task, especially as the games got more complex.
      If we do this again, I'll definitely try to get more information regarding the battles themselves. (Maybe a camera over the dice box? Not sure. )
      Either way, thanks for the feedback!

    I watched the Game 1 game play and am fascinated by the rest of the tournament. I played the og1981 version and then the 2nd edition (I guess called Classic now) a lot in high school. I still have my personal copy of Classic box. I thought the video was great. It covered both your plans and thoughts about why the moves were made, and the results of various combats. It was also just a great length. Long enough to cover each turn in detail, but not so long that I got bored. Keep it up!

    Gary - great comment on 42's duration being a better fit for the WC time. If the tournament grows like we hope, Greg will run out of spots for the tournament and have to limit the participation. I would love to see a return to participation levels of the late 90s, when Greg had around 60 teams participating in 6 games over 2 days. It was draining, but a blast!
    Even AA50 would be challenging with that many teams....

    Great content! As to the question about 49 minutes in about whether a long form live stream of the game recap would be good, one option that may work would be to use TH-cam's "Premiere" option - if I understand right, that allows the creator to essentially watch the cleaned up version of the recap, with the audience, and answer questions, etc during the "Premiere". If I'm understanding that capability correctly, that may be cool.

    • @BoardGameNation
      @BoardGameNation  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Once again, I may have missed this before but at Gen Con, how many players entered? How many games were played in round 1? 2?3? (How many open rounds were there?) And what were the average bids and which side won with the various bids? It sounds like +6 to Allies was common you said? How many games were played with that bid and what were their results? Just gives new players coming into the Gen Con tourney an insight for bidding which can obviously change the game dramatically.

    • @BoardGameNation
      @BoardGameNation  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I believe the tournament organizer (Greg Smorey) has the information but hasn't complied it yet. I have the information about our bids in all of our games.
      In 2023, it was a 16-team bracket.
      Great questions! Thanks!

    • @BoardGameNation
      @BoardGameNation  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Each has a role for each side depending on the strategy in play, but fighters are the best unit in the game. Thanks for watching!

    I like your suggestion to have qualifiers to attract more international players to this "world" championship. For me as a European it always feels kid of funny to see world championships being played out just between Americans (and the few internationals which want to afford the travel). Same goes for baseball and football ;-)

    Good game, i really liked the double carrier buy. Your strategy was really good, i am not really sure if it works out, if the german runs more aggressiv against russia. The axis player was maybe in online bronze or silver player. He made not a great job. The carrier buy was really nasty. The german alone against russia and russia makes the soldier move against japan. This should be a no brainer for the germans to get rid of russia. It would have been a really interesting game against a good player with more luck. Greeting from Germany

    I understood the concept. Could understand why USSR was fighting Japan. That shouldn't be allowed. Why there was no Italy. As Italy wasn't knocked out until July 42. Made it an extreme one sided game.

    • @BoardGameNation
      @BoardGameNation  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are other versions of Axis and Allies that include more powers (like Italy, China, and ANZAC) and the Soviet-Japanese Non-Agression Pact. However, in the interest of play time and accessibility, the scale of the 1942.2 version was paired down.
      For more detailed game play, I suggest you check out Europe and/or Pacific 1940. You can find a like in the video's description that will take you there.
