      The spikes are minimum of 25mm long d need to be re-enforced steel or tungsten . They are also as little as £15 in the trade
      Golf shoes spike height is minimal and are not strong enough. Also they are £50 -£500

      Only the real ones now ive been doing stonhard floors for 9 years now smallest floors we do are 12,000 mostly troweled mortar with flake system it is definitely hard work

      Bro tell me about it . We was doing 90hrs week. Getting to the bag. the biggest floor I did was the World Trade Center 75,000 sq feet and we had to polish is it. You know we had the 800 htc grinder started with the scrappers to get that hard glue than Run the 30s than 70s than 120s than we had to density and run the pads I was a beast on the machine and the metabo and 5inch as well. I miss the work and money but it was a killer dealing with all that silica

      Honestly the prepping for this is the annoying part. Cleats were used walking on this. Did a lot of jobs. Flake was the only thing I hated about the job.

    I miss this kind of work and definitely like the idea of the spiked shoes but in AZ we struggled to use them sometimes bc the epoxy would thicken/set too fast for us to use them, oftjust bankrolled from the start even though it was slower.

    Yup! They're just like HUGE sandal looking things that secure overtop of your work boot and have about 20-25 spikes on the bottom of them. If you've been in sports the spikes closely resemble the kind of spikes you'd find on the bottom of Track and Field spikes.

      That's right I'm a flooring contractor we have them when we self level a floor its called f.l.c ( floor leveling compound)same concept and it works very well just make sure you clean them after for your next job 👍

    I did this exact same thing in the late 1970s, same color too, pouring a floor for a roller skating rink. Used spiked shoes too. The floor came out real smooth.

    We had our factory floor painted and as soon as the crew showed up the owner asked everyone's shoe size - hen went and bought everyone a set of golf cleats, which all got thrown in the garbage after the floor was painted

      Yes it is very good floor antimicrobial antibacterial antifungal I was doing it in the hospital emergency rooms but don’t buy the Home Depot kind because it’s not commercial Apoxsee you actually have to have a Apoxsee license and go to class for six months to get the license and then you’re certified you have to have the certificate of completion to buy the material and there’s only several warehouses in the United States and there’s not a lot of people doing it with the fumes the fumes are bad it’ll give you a proxy poisoning and when they’re walking on them spikes it is very slippery I’m very agile and I have fallen a few times and it’s very very expensive do you have resin which is about $500 a 5 gallon bucket and then you have Hardner which is $500 a bucket I forget how many square feet it is but the attitude that everybody that does Apoxsee they think they are God it’s very simple it’s just like painting the freaking wall but it’s a floor you could also throw paint chips in it as well and then you have a seal coat do you have partners you have fast there’s a lot into it but it’s really not that hard and the mixture goes 1 gallon Hardner 2 gallons of resin to the one good luck👍🫵

    Ive been doing epoxy nearly 15 years now. You need to be a certain kind of person, some days will be 16+ hours long depending on your time crunch.

      I work in the IT field. It’s stressful, also depends where you work. On average 9-10hour days, work all days of the week, it’s an Manufactering environment so it’s 24/7, I can work from
      Home 2-5 hours also a day, depends on who calls/what it is and what all I need to get done still from the day or what someone needs done, we have 3 plants, a LOT of servers, LOTS of workstations, design PC’s production management, As/400’s etc. 4 people in IT, two in one plant, two in mine, and me and my manager handles the remote plant and my home location, it’s a SHIT TON of work every day and a lot to manage

We didn't have a planetary grinder at the time so we hand ground everything. We eventually upgraded and it got a lot nicer lol. Polishing does also take an eternity.

    I worked for Stonehard for 3-4 years. Got to see a lot of factories I never would have otherwise wanted to see them. I never could have imagined the absolute genius engineering involved in building custom purpose built factories. Miller-Coors in Athens (if I remember correctly) Georgia, is the most insanely complex engineering marvel I've ever seen in my life.
    Cool job, it was a good break between setting tile. I kinda miss it sometimes.

      I have it on my garage floor, cost heaps. Any damage can’t be repaired easily like it can with paint. Also car tyres still wreck it, so you have have it covered where you drive your car. Quality click together tiles are better imo

      ​@@Crowbar381costs 3-8$ a square foot. It's chemical resistant to anything in the average home and stronger than the concrete it sits on. Repair process is identical to fixing a paint scratch other than mixing the two part epoxy. I repair these all the time and you can barely tell. My boss has a 22 year old epoxy floor, my supervisors is just over 15 and mine is nine years old. No repairs yet and not a crack in sight. An excellent investment

    When we did our floors at work, we did a first coat that we thinned with xylene to break the surface tension and allow the epoxy to penetrate into and better bond with the concrete.

    I was doing epoxy floors as a kid 20 years ago with my pops after he had one put in his restaurant and was so intrigued he had a duraflex rep come spend a weekend at our house and do our garage to show us how it's done. Havent done floors in years now tho

    Gotta watch those spiked shoes, I’ve been using this technique for over twenty years and recently got a blister on my left foot that turned into a staph infection that has caused me to be off work for the last ten weeks. Seen a few people slip over on spikes, it not only hurts but you land on your back in wet resin.

    They coated the floors in our nuclear power plant with something like that.

    I worked somewhere like this. It’s a coating job, we would lay 3-4 layers of paint and throw sand on top and roll the sand. We did it mostly for parking garages.

    On the bottom of their shoes are spikes that on the paint surface is tiny pigmented pixel sizes to the human eyes.

    Should always sweep twice then mop with dish soap bc it sucks oil out the floor then mop good let it dry good and u won't see the dirt streaks u see here and will often change color of the floor and look a dif shade from both sides of the room

    I used to do that kinda flooring it's a pretty cool job, I liked spreading the epoxy and apparently I was the best one at it cuz I always had to do that part which was cool, better than mixing that shit and carrying it over

    Spiked shoes! Must be hard as heck to stay upright. Last hardwood floor I did I took shoes and eyewear off to correct a dry spot. Slipped in oil base finish and landed on my eyewear. Busted where I sit too!
