When we first met Damon, we were led to believe he was a monster-the quintessential bad guy. But over time, it became clear that he wasn’t as terrible as he seemed. For context, there’s a concept in the TVD and TO universe called “turning off your emotions.” Vampires sometimes shut off their emotions to avoid dealing with overwhelming pain or guilt. In this state, they feel nothing and often go on killing sprees. Because they don’t want to face the consequences of their actions once their emotions are back on, they tend to resist turning them back on. This phenomenon happens frequently in the series and, in my opinion, reflects nature’s attempt to balance their heightened emotions as vampires. Damon has always been a lover at heart. He loved Katherine, fully aware she was a vampire, and unlike Stefan, he was never compelled by her. Yet, despite his devotion, she still chose Stefan. Then there’s Elena-Damon loved her deeply, but for the first four seasons, she chose Stefan as well. It wasn’t until she became a vampire that her feelings shifted, and she realized Stefan’s moral rigidity no longer matched her new reality. I believe Damon is a misunderstood and mistreated character. Yes, he’s done terrible things, but so has Stefan-arguably worse at times. Yet, Stefan is treated like a saint while Damon is vilified. Despite his flaws, Damon is one of the most complex and compelling characters in the TVD universe. He’s my second favorite, with my number one being, of course, Niklaus.
One of the interesting things about Damon's character is that he is so incredibly and fiercely loyal to people once he decides to let them in but is so damaged because of his past that he tries to keep others out by reflex. A good example of this was his first real love Katherine. Katherine was a vampire and she offered to turn Damon. Damon had no interest in being a vampire but he loved Katherine to the point that he wanted to be with her forever. So much so that he went on hunts with Katherine, drank blood directly from her while human, helping her hide bodies. When he believes Katherine is dead Damon chooses to die as a human rather than live as a vampire without her. After learning that Katherine is alive and believing she is imprisoned, and that she cheated on him with his brother who she ACTUALLY loved while only toying with him, Damon STILL chose to spend the next 145 years trying to get her free. He even spent decades being "Faithful" to her until he was later convinced that it wouldn't be a betrayal to have other relationships until he could free her. When he later learned that she HAD been free the whole time and she told him to his face that she never loved him and it was always only his brother she cared about it seriously broke him for a while. It also successfully turned 145 years of love and devotion into one of the most SERIOUS grudges in the series.
React to Bonnie Bennett : a Bennett Witch plzzzzz. She is the back bone to all of the vampire diaries gangs success but she never appreciated much for all her sacrifices. I love her and wish others did too
You need to watch the vampire diaries first for the originals to make 100% sense! They first show up in TVD and it’s a very important arc so you need to watch TVD first I think you will like it. However, when I see big tributes like that I wouldn’t watch them bc it shows wayyy too much.
I love the re-posts! This is the one that started me watching you, and I love that you’re watching the show. It feels like so long ago… almost at season 3 finale on Patreon and I’m loving your reactions to it so much.
Funny thing is, Damon is far from the strongest character on the show but he is the ONLY character to have defeated every original vampire in combat at one point, with the exception of Finn. Damon was one of the best characters in the show because he was incredibly loyal, fiercely passionate, remarkably intuitive, clever, fearless beyond sanity, and so BADLY damaged. Damon had gotten so used to people hurting, using, and abandoning him that he became the one who preemptively push people away and lash out at others anytime he got hurt. It made him a very human character.
When you start watching the series. You should watch the TVD first then TO. Because TVD will give you the backstory of TO. how they were made into vampires. Why they left Mystic falls and went back to New Orleans. TO appear in Season 2 Of TVD.
So glad I found your channel, though you are spoiling yourself a little. Hope you go tvd first because there are crossovers that spoil major plot lines
If youre gonna start watching it I feel like you should definitely react to Vampire Diaries before the spinoff The Originals then if you didnt know that has a spinoff too called Legacies. Anywho a lot happens with the Michaelson family on Vampire Diaries that it just doesnt make sense to start with The Originals. By the by Im not being an ass. Hahaha.
wud u do me a favour,,, listen to florence & the machine (VD's)... "never let me go" damon & elainas 1st kiss.. she from the UK (biased much😳🫣🐐) voice u wont believe xxx
In context, vampire diaries came out before the original. Klaus and Elijah and Rebecca first appeared on it

React to Stefan to-The Ripper. Stefan is kinda like ELIJAH and Damon is a mix between Kol and Klaus. If that makes sense
yes this one!
Exept Delena is Endgame

Stefan - The Martyr, please.
Damon-The Bad Guy and Alaric Saltzman- True Hunter. Both very good

Definitely start with the Vampire Diaries, then move to the spinoff of The Originals. You’ll get more backstory if you start with TVD ❤️❤️
stefan - the ripper
-I think you’ll enjoy the vampire diaries in my opinion especially Damon the orginals don’t show up in the vampire diaries until season 2
this!!

Do Stephan, Ripper.
Stefan - the martyr
Also TVDU goes in this order- the vampire diaries > the originals > the legacies
you won't understand the lore if you skip tvd first
Please react to supernatural tributes too
This kinda spoiled the whole show 😂
You Need to react to the flash tribute
Stop reacting to these then because it spoils SO MUCH!
NO, watch vampire diaries from season 1 to 3 then watch the originals. Vampire diaries is boring tho
