Yeah, some random place serving potato pancakes (placki ziemniaczane) is almost never going to be good, you can even get digestive issues from old oil and such. They're supposed to be crunchy on the rims and juicy closer to the center, not overall burned like this. These look like ready-to-fry crap quality processed type bought from a supermarket and not hand-made from actually grinding fresh potatoes. Not sure about Ustroń, but if you go to a larger city, you will find these in many restaurants and in mostly 2 varieties - with sour cream, which are designed to be a sweet dish or with goulash, possibly with some melted cheese and mushrooms on top, very garlicky and well seasoned. These are considered "traditional" but are actually called "Hungarian potato pancakes" (placki po węgiersku). Or you could just have them solo, if you actually just like the way fried potatoes taste. You should try it out again, just in some more decent establishment, that focuses more on food than beer.
It's amazing how often you get to describe Polish people as outgoing and friendly. Things have definitely changed for the better in Poland. I've noticed that too, when returning there after 10 years abroad.
Things changed in Poland? You're talking like polish was racist. If you meet SOME polish racist years ago that doesnt mean polish ppl was racist by default.

@@Marcos_1983 Believe me, in most of those places they do serve foods like that. I'm living in one of the biggest cities in PL, I'm often travel for the business trips to Warsaw. During the busy months, I often don't have time or strength to cook myself, so I go the restaurants. I don't want to be bored, so it's always different place, and the amount of times I had something burned or unedible is just crazy. Literally 3 weeks ago, in Warsaw I went for the dinner at Piwna street. It's literally small alley at the centre of the city. In some restaurant that I don't want to call by name, I ordered "Placki Ziemniaczane z gulaszem mięsnym". Meat part was actually very good, but the potato cakes were even more burned, than the ones in the video.
9:45 blood puding made in Polish way. It is incredibly good especially with sauerkraut and bread. Hungarians have it as well. We love it. I know a few English people who love it as well very much. But most I love the Polish one in taste, than the hungarian one. It depends who make it and in what way, It must no be watery but stable, consistent and well baked, witch crunchy outer skin.
Placki ziemniaczane are so delicious! In my family we eat them with sour cream and suger or heavy cream and sugar, plain with sugar, or with mushroom sauce. Many varieties though.
hey Andrew if you want to come to Worclaw i can show you something and i can aslo show you Sroda Slaska, Napoleon home for a quite long time :) and traditional dishes etc :)
13:38 These are not PANCAKES they are called placki ziemniaczane na blaszy in English: potato pancakes made on the oven's hot top. They should be eaten with sour milk cream and hot pork cracklings.
Sadly Ustroń is filled with sub-par restaurants. The restaurant I can recommend to visit is Smażalnia Ryb "Rodzinna" in Wisła, it's near the market and you can get some truly fantastic fish from there. It's been family ran for decades, my grandparents used to go there in the 70's.
This restaurant is more like a fast-food/beer garden. The meal you had was called ‘placek ze smietana’ - potato cake/hashbrown with sour cream. If ‘placek’ is done correctly, it’s actually very nice, especially with goulash or ‘wyrzoski’ - but it should be crispy and not burnt. 😊
Oscypek (cheese) traditionally is made from sheep milk. But it is almost impossible to get one. Placki ziemniaczane - potato dish you had - it was burned in some places and raw in others. Also the best version is "placki po węgiersku" - with goulash on top. I don't like it with sour cream. With goulash it is perfect.
You should have returned the shredded potato pancake. It's clearly burnt. And its name is "placki ziemniaczane". The small cheese is not from cow, its from sheep, and its called oscypek. You should try it warm with cranberry sauce.
This potatoes dish unfortunately has been messed up. Base on that how this place was looks like I’m not surprised that wasn’t the best version of this traditional polish dish. If you really would like to try the best of the best traditional polish food made in grandma’s style, I strongly recommend Karczma pod Srzechą in place called Plock ( central Poland). You can also try to find any other place which looks like an old cottage or wooden house village style. Places like you choose is too busy and is more like fast food.
I recommend Wisła, my home town which is right next to Ustroń. You can literally walk the pathway you were on today (the one with the bike lanes) to Wisła and it won't take long. Wisła is much better for tourists and there's more attractions. I recommend going on the Skolnity wyciąg (ski lift) in Wisła as the views are super pretty. If you want traditional regional food then go to my family's restaurant 'Carmen' on the road between Ustroń and Wisła for the best 'Golonko' dish - they're masters at it and have been serving it for decades with their secret recipe (I promise I'm not biased, haha). Have fun and thanks for visiting my beloved region, I miss it very much.
I’m SO SORRY for your food experience!! That was UNACCEPTABLE!! Not sure what sort of potato pancakes those were - but they certainly weren’t what they should be!! First off, they should NEVER be so huge and slobbered with sour cream - I think they did that to cover the burnt pancake!! They are savory so NO SUGAR either!!! If that had been me I would have gone right back to the vendor and have her eat them!!! They had NO BUSINESS serving them to you!!! SHAME ON USTRON and all those vendors!! If you want to have some good food PLEASE go to a larger city like Krakow - there are so many wonderful restaurants!! This was an embarrassment t - I’m so sorry!!!!
To be honest I agree that there's too much of the sour cream, but it's actually quite common to eat the potato pancakes with sugar at least in my area - near Poznań. I mean, I still prefer them with goulash or some kind of savory sauce, but for example my parents only eat them with sugar and sometimes sour cream. And they have to be cooked to a crisp.
@@DANUSIA11 As easy as it can be - potatoes, flour, egg, sometimes some onion, salt. Some people prefer to make them without the onion if they are going to eat them with sugar, but it's actually really tasty in my opinion if you add the onion when eating them with sugar.
Poland and Hungary used to be very close together like brothers. We even have very cheerful saing about this "Polak, Węgier, dwa bratanki. I do szabli i do szklanki." It's a common thing that we share similar traditions and food.

This flan should be little bit burned, but I think it was burned too much. They should ask you about your preference. Your chose of plain cheese explains a lot.
These pancakes are baked with no help of oil only on the top of an oven's hot top. I love them so much. I love them burnt. Since my childhood I was an exception im my family house. I did not eat them if they were not burnt. But I never had it with sugar. And it had on top of it hot pork cracklings with fat. It should be sour milk cream. Now when I have my diet I had better use greek yoghurt.
Hello Andrzej :) In google translate You can record Your voice and it will translate it to Polish, then You can use speaker button and it will say it.Thats so much easier. Greetings! Love Your videos!
If you still there and you are looking for really good food go to Angel's pub. The cab which you were passing by on the other movie is actually 'poster' of that restaurant. You'll find yourself in there as this is British style pub, but food and service there is at top level. You can also try 'placki ziemniaczane' on the other side of the river. There's wooden restaurant as well but usually they are made way better than that waste which they gave you to eat. Try them with sour cream and sugar (sweet) or with goulash (salty). Good luck!
6:20 Radło - narzędzie rolnicze wynalezione ok. 4000 r. p.n.e. w epoce neolitu, (według innego źródła 5500 lat p.n.e. w Mezopotamii)[1] służące do spulchniania gleby bez jej odwracania. The ard, ard plough,[1] or scratch plough[2] is a simple light plough without a mouldboard. It is symmetrical on either side of its line of draft and is fitted with a symmetrical share that traces a shallow furrow but does not invert the soil. It began to be replaced in China by the heavy carruca turnplough in the 1st century,[3] and in most of Europe from the 7th century.
OMG they did it again. Burned dish like this, shouldn't left the kitchen. What you had was placek ziemniaczany and it is delicious when not burned and served well. You can eat it with sour cream, like you had or with hungarian goulash

@André Traveler this potato pancakes are really good but this one definitely burned too much you should go and do recalamation
That was JUST TERRIBLE!! I would have had the vendor eat them!! They had no business serving such garbage!!
Can't believe about the food 😳 you should take it back and get another one buddy, regards
pozdrowienia Andre!
Nice nice bro i must yet go in traveler like that , from Poland to oll Europe. But for me interesting the best far far away island Grenladia.
Ask them in slow Czech if they understand Czech. In this region a lot of Poles because of its dialect understand Czech quite well.
Thank you for coming to Poland. Na zdrowie 😎
Could you please go to Warsaw because me and my friends want to meet you
There are old wooden houses in nerby Istebna. For example: Kurna chata in Istebna. Or in nerby Koniaków they have the world biggest lace.
Yeah I recomend that as well.
Placki z blachy nie są chrupiące
Oscypek (cheese) traditionally is made from sheep milk. But it is almost impossible to get one. Placki ziemniaczane - potato dish you had - it was burned in some places and raw in others. Also the best version is "placki po węgiersku" - with goulash on top. I don't like it with sour cream. With goulash it is perfect.
Ostiepok je tradičný slovensky syr a dostať ho takmer všade na slovensku...
24:15 it is made of sheep not out of cow milk!
You should have returned the shredded potato pancake. It's clearly burnt. And its name is "placki ziemniaczane". The small cheese is not from cow, its from sheep, and its called oscypek. You should try it warm with cranberry sauce.
Hello from Poland and good luck
It is village flea market not a museum, they are selling stuff
This potatoes dish unfortunately has been messed up. Base on that how this place was looks like I’m not surprised that wasn’t the best version of this traditional polish dish. If you really would like to try the best of the best traditional polish food made in grandma’s style, I strongly recommend Karczma pod Srzechą in place called Plock ( central Poland). You can also try to find any other place which looks like an old cottage or wooden house village style. Places like you choose is too busy and is more like fast food.
these pies were burnt. had to be returned to the service. in general, potato pancakes are delicious Polish food. greetings from Podkarpacie.
In English Wisła is named Vistula river.
Na pewno to wie. 😏 Chce po prostu mówić po polsku.
18:00 This place looks abandoned because it is. I've heard that this was supposed to be a pool, but they never finished it.
Agreed. Mightbe they have too many customets so care less. Not nice ☹️
@@666radke how do you make yours?? Because where we are from we use black pepper to give it a zesty taste
@@DANUSIA11 As easy as it can be - potatoes, flour, egg, sometimes some onion, salt. Some people prefer to make them without the onion if they are going to eat them with sugar, but it's actually really tasty in my opinion if you add the onion when eating them with sugar.
@@666radke yes that’s why I can’t even fathom putting sugar - onions potatoes pepper salt
Poland and Hungary used to be very close together like brothers. We even have very cheerful saing about this "Polak, Węgier, dwa bratanki. I do szabli i do szklanki." It's a common thing that we share similar traditions and food.
żeby to była jeszcze prawda...drogi Polski i Węgier się rozeszły.

This flan should be little bit burned, but I think it was burned too much. They should ask you about your preference. Your chose of plain cheese explains a lot.
You are very nice man, respect to you 🇵🇱❤️
These pancakes are baked with no help of oil only on the top of an oven's hot top.
They gave so much sour cream to hide the burnt..
Speak to them in slow Czech.
If they gave you burnt food you have to tell them to make another one or not to pay for it you didnt pay for coal I hope you have a good time
You must look the Bielsko -Biala City ;)
U should come to Gdansk in November.
Here in Gdansk will be christmas Market.
It began to be replaced in China by the heavy carruca turnplough in the 1st century,[3] and in most of Europe from the 7th century.
hello bro from my city, can u visit this place ''Zespół Szkół Technicznych w Ustroniu'' it's museum school
You should try a knuckle. I love it best in Poland.
You videos are great 👍👍
You ate hash brown in Polish version. And the black thing which what you saw it was black pudding or closer to Scottish haggis
OMG they did it again. Burned dish like this, shouldn't left the kitchen. What you had was placek ziemniaczany and it is delicious when not burned and served well. You can eat it with sour cream, like you had or with hungarian goulash
Co do podania, to się zgodzę. Przypalone placki są wstrętne.
Takie bary mają niską jakość jedzenia i obsługi
ale zeby podac turyscie spalonego placka... wlasciciel powinien zwrocic uwage kucharzowi
I jeszcze mu te placki zaproponowała wstyd
To się chłopina dogadał.Fajny filmik :)Szkoda że placki nie z sosem mięsnym i spalone
Sadly you got burnt cakes good tip is always try eating at places with no tourist shops because less crowded places care more about the food and how is given to the customers. Cheers! 😀
- How old are these things?
- Kopaczka.
- Kopaczka?
- Kopaczka.
XD
It is called placky I think in Czech and Slovak and it is not a pancake. It is close to hashbrowns.
- Dzień dobry! - said Andre the Traveler. - Dziń dybry! - answered the stall keeper. Probably a relative of officer Crabtree.
Po co to piszesz? Niegrzeczne to było
if you like wooden houses than you must looking for the wooden churches in Poland, they are really amazing
You should see "na Kole" market in Warsaw. There are many antiques:
Furniture, rifles, paintings, figures, helmets, swords etc.
0:37 This Polish guy seeing you did not say Dzień dobry instead od it he said: Dziń dybry which was kind of Good morning pronounced by forigners. :)
