You’re right. It is indeed confirmed to be Imaginary-based, by reliable leaker RiddlerKhu.
The leaker said that the whole Paradox Pokémon phenomenon is due to a similar situation in the 2009 anime movie, King of Thorn. This anime movie is about a bunch of people who go into suspended animation due to a virus that has come from outer space.
They wake up in the near future, and realise that the world has become inhabited by strange monsters and vines everywhere. It turns out that the first person who was infected by the virus was actually able to dream up these monsters and vines etc…her imagination came to life.
So yeh…it more or less confirms that whatever Terapagos or it’s baby-forme are doing….they’re probably from outer space and were on the comet that struck Paldea millions of years ago.
It was not until the explorers (and later on the professors) went down there that Terapagos started to fabricate the imaginations of these people who were within its proximity.
This includes the fabrications of the Professor’s AI clone and the alleged “Time Machine”.
The Time Machine was not ‘real’ but a means for Terapagos to still send the Imagined Pokémon to the professors. The professors though it was real…but Terapagos could not in-fact make it…it just kept it looking as if future or past -Pokémon were being teleported.

Perhaps "Walking Wake" would make more sense to fans if they would all just say aloud, "This Paradox Pokemon is a paradox!"
Additional: Time travel, multiverse, futuristic science and magic all exist in the Pokemon franchise. A Suicune could have been sent to the past by Celebi, Dialga, Arceus, or any number of Pokemon with time powers. Or Bill. Or the Professors.
Seriously. Plenty of ways to explain, so long as you remember how many open doors there are in the franchise.
Also, I think there's a very good reason we're never flat out given the answers for many of the greatest mysteries of Pokemon. Simply put, the franchise is all about sparking curiosity and discovery in the minds of people young and old. What discovery is there if we have the answers handed to us?

  • @GoinGreninja

They're paradoxes, as in not real, cannot exist. Suicune existed because of the burning of the Burned Tower. And no, it's not the one who burned at the tower. The stories explicitly say that they're catlike creatures and there were three of them. It could be imaginary but what's most likely is that they just look alike, that's literally all. Considering Pokémon established that alternate universes/timelines exist with Sun/Moon & Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, my thing is that Paradox Pokémon do come from the past or future, just not that specific _game’s_ past or future. I think that what the Terastal Time Machine is actually doing is taking Pokémon from different points in the past of other universes cause, and this is specifically for Scarlet, if these were from the ancient past, wouldn’t professors already know about them? Like fossil Pokémon exist, yet no one has found a fossil of Great Tusk anywhere? That’s why I believe they are described in the book as “imaginary” cause they never existed in this universe, but in another universe, those people are probably like “Oh yeah, that’s just an evolution of Donphan that they used to be able to evolve to but stop due to genetic issues.”

Here's an idea: The 3 Pokémon that died had evolution in the past but at some point lost the ability to evolve (something we've seen already). The paradox Pokémon is one of those evolutions. When the 3 Pokémon died, Ho-Oh used the dormant genes for their past evolved forms as a template to create the Legendary Beasts.

This is a brilliant theme. It’s like how no has ever seen a dinosaur…yet we created sketches as to what they may look like. So much that we actually believe we know the creature appearance due to technology all while NEVER seeing one in real time.

See my head canon for the legendary beasts is that 3 pokemon died in the fire and the paradox forms for the legendary beasts gave up their lives to ho-oh so that they could be reborn. In doing so, the 3 pokemon became the new legendary beasts and took on a similar form to the paradox legendary beasts. It works better if they were eeveelutions because that would explain how they went from reptiles to mammals.

Something interesting about the paradox legendary beasts, is that Walking Wake is the only bipedal one of the trio. Both Gouging Fire and Raging Bolt are quadrupeds, just like Entei and Raikou. Walking Wake on the other hand, is a bipedal Pokémon that stands on its hind legs. Wonder why that is.

It dawns on me for an idea for a second. What is Raikou, Entei and Suicune used to exist, and for some reason they got wiped out, right? Then, for a long period of time, decades, centuries or whatever, they did not exist, and then there was a time Ho-Oh decided (or was given the go) to resurrect them? Not that they are fossils, no, they just stopped existing due to situations, someone wiped them out, they died out or something. The only way to resurrect them was to use a tragic situation to bring them back. That is a story they could run with I suppose to justify their existence.

People really need to understand the meaning of "paradox". In Greek it derives from the prefix para- ,which a lot of times means "against something" and "doxa"(δόξα) which in modern Greek means "fame" but in ancient Greek it derived from the word "doko (δοκώ) which means "accept" thus giving it the meaning of "accepted opinion".
Thus, a paradox is something that goes against accepted reality and, most of the time, is either illogical or contradictory.

Could it be that suicune, because it is a powered up version of the mystery pokemon, bears certain features that walking wake has that mystery pokemon wouldn't?
