I’m trying to incorporate this station into a story I’m writing, so I have to thank you for doing this very helpful and informative tour of the place! :D
Thanks so much for watching, William! It's nice to see such a beautiful and historical building still in use. In too many cases, the old stations were replaced with "modern" structures that lack charm and heritage. Safe travels on your next journey, William!
@@johnnydtw3509 Johnny I visited the one in Cincinnati in early March. It is a beautiful example of Art Deco architecture. I hope to visit Cleveland later in the summer to see Terminal Tower.
I rolled into 30th street on the "Three Rivers" from Chicago back in 1999 and stayed a week in Philadelphia at Bank Street Hostel. I had an AMTRAK pass and made several day trips to New York and to Baltimore. I don't think that the station has changed much since then. Hope that I travel there again someday. I'm from UK and remember the huge Solari board at London Waterloo - gone many years now.
Hey oldelephantstew, thanks so much for watching! It's a real shame the Solari boards have been replaced in most stations. The Philadelphia 30th Street Station is what a train station should be - none of the "modern" stations seem to have the charm as the originals from railroading's heyday. Hope you'll be back again soon, thanks again for commenting!
***Grey's 30th Street Station. If this was recorded in 2018, why is the quality so god awful. I get better resolution on my refrigerator. also its Grand Central Terminal, not Station.
LOL thanks for putting up with the bad quality, Kevin. I have an old school point and shoot camera........def looking into upgrading. Appreciate the correction, thanks for watching!
Hey wanderkinstler, thanks so much for watching! Not sure how long they've been there, I've only visited Philly a few times. Wishing you all the best thanks again!
@@JonathanBrowneMenzies Hi Jonathan. I was there last year an they had banners for something else. I think they' re selling ad space there, which is a real shame. Not the background you want for the homage to the fallen! Anyway, I love Philly and I hope they discontinue that practice at the station.

Glad it was helpful! Best of luck on your story, I look forward to reading it!
Jonathan Browne Menzies Thank you! It will be a Wattpad story called ‘The Odd Mage.’ :)
cool content Jonathan Browne Menzies. I smashed the thumbs up on your video. Keep up the first-rate work.
Thanks so much for the inspiration and sub, Keyser! Wishing you a great summer! JBM
Great video! Thirtieth Street Station is a beautiful building. I used it in July during my visit to Philly. Wish we had one like it in Columbus, Ohio.

30th street station is in University City, west philly to be exact. downtown is city hall 13th and market street. about 14 blocks away...
Thanks for the clarification, Brooks! What a beautiful station.
0:11 A miniature Grand Central Station? I’ve never been to Grand Central Station. It must be huge!
LOL thanks for watching! I should say the architectural elements are similar, unlike NYC Penn Station, for example.

That looks cool.
Thanks for watching, Elliott! Check out my video of trains in Holguin, Cuba.....have a great weekend brother! th-cam.com/video/0VtcRvZ3SZU/w-d-xo.html
Haven't been in that station since the 1990's.
Thanks so much for watching, Robert! It was my first time in the station and I was very impressed. Has anything changed since the 90s?
@@JonathanBrowneMenzies I remember a McDonald's was there. I'd stop there for a milkshake before taking Septa home.
@@Rlotpir1972 The McDonald's has long since been replaced by Wendy's & Jersey Mike's, someone co-existing separate, but together.

Kevin, was it necessary to be so rude?
Why do they allow those large banners to fuck up the station??

I agree, they kind of overdid it with the ads, let the building speak for itself and at least give the memorials some space.
What about NJ Transit
Hey Mr. Conductor, thanks for the added info! Can you go from Philly to NYC via NJ Transit?
I hope, but unfortunately, the iMovie from my phone was no longer there, Jonathan Browne Menzies
