It was not hydrogen specifically that caused the Hindenburg to burn fast.The skin played a part due to the ingredients.Look at the MythBusters episode Hindenburg disaster.

the Hindenburg had hydrogen in it and when it went to land it caught fire and blew up in flames that why people haven't made a hydrogen blimp also loved the video you're welcome for the history lesson
Who really knows what was the real issue.. some say static electricity, some say sabotage.
But coating a balloon in thermite, and filling with one of the most explosive gasses was not a good idea.

PS the Hindenburg used hydrogen which is flammable (is also lighter then hydrogen) and its syspected that a spark caused it to go up in flames (there was a hole in ohe of the Gass bags which allowed Gass to escape into the Hull)

Yes, The Hindenburg was filled with hydrogen gas which is extremely flammable, hence why it caught fire over a field in new jersey in 1938, it is still unknown how it caught fire but it did

3:52 being the annoying historian that I am, it was the hydrogen inside of the Hindenburg. You see, the Zeppelin company wanted their airships as efficient as possible. Most airships went with the safe and unflamable helium, but Zeppelin considered the fact that hydrogen made airships float more then helium. So, as a result, Zeppelin put hydrogen in the Hindenburg. Now, if there was one little spark in the Hindenburg, the whole thing got a good chance of going bye bye. So, hydrogen make airship go boom.

The Hindenburg did actually use hydrogen and not helium, but the reason it burnt was most likely a tank burst than burned and swept through the entire airship.

The Heidelberg was filled with hydrogen and that was what made to so flammable, the skin let some hydrogen escape and a electrical static charge on the skin caused the ignition.

The Hindenburg was a German air ship (Zeplin) made during ww 2 that is why there were swastikas on the top and bottom tail fins Zeplins were originally used for bombing in London because they could travel farther and higher than planes. At the time Germans could not get the safer helium so when it changed to be a commercial airship transporting people from Germany to new jersey it was very dangerous on one of its trips from Germany its back was very low at the landing field, so the drivers let out the water that was holding it down. For unknown reasons the back caught on fire and quickly spread throughout the entirety of the air ship in under a minute the entire air ship had gone down some people say that the reason was that a tower had a broken wire that was sparking and ignited it. It also could have been static electricity that shocked the back. so, to answer your question it was not the coating it was the hydrogen inside of it.

Camodo, there is a tool that allows you to turn the ship. Using the grab tool while holding shift allows it to turn.
