Baseline for Ace's deck list is 4 Izo's, rush Ace, Edward Newgate, Flame emperor and loads of other events. Tweak the deck to fit your playstyle (basically either aggro or removal). I like to run a deck with majority whitebeard pirates but I also put in Dragon and Moda. Any red event works well, I like to run Seaquake and Red Hawk for removal. Also there's a lot of emphasis on Ace attacking "tall" not "wide", so the ideal playstyle is to get a lot of low cost bodies on the board and swing with them, while stacking ace a lot with events and don. I put Haruta in my deck just for added don and I also ran 5 cost Izo for a general attack/support.
For removal focused decks, use Izo''s ability to trash a card giving your opponent -2000, then use 3/4 don to play Cross fire and Seaquake/Red hawk, basically allowing you to kill big bodies instantly.
For aggro, low cost rushers such as Kid and Killer and Zoro are good, though I have rarely seen anyone who runs them in the deck, mainly because they are not searchable with 1 cost Izo or Whitebeard Pirates.
The name of the game for ace is being able to be better than your opponent. Enemy leader is aggressive? Remove their board with events and ace. Enemy is good at stalling? Use flame emperor and other things such as Moda or Fiery doll to increase the single attack power. Enemy has big bodies out? Remove their power with events and kill them.

So it's definitely possible to top. But red Ace is more of a B- Tier deck.
