Tributes Pour in for MAUREEN MWANAWASA

Government says Cabinet Office is working in collaboration with the family of the late Former First Lady, MAUREEN MWANAWASA on burial arrangements.
Secretary to the Cabinet, PATRICK KANGWA says a detailed funeral programme will be released once the burial arrangements have been concluded.
In a statement, Mr. KANGWA said the funeral gathering will be held at the late Dr. MWANAWASA’s residence in Roma Park in Lusaka.
He said Dr. MWANAWASA aged 61, died last evening, August 13, 2024, at Maina Soko Medical Centre in Lusaka, after an illness.
The Former First Lady was the widow of Zambia’s third Republican President, LEVY PATRICK MWANAWASA.
AND Government says it has learnt with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss of the passing of former First Lady, Dr. MWANAWASA.
Chief Government Spokesperson, CORNELIUS MWEETWA says the thoughts and prayers are with Dr. MWANAWASA's family as they endure this immense loss.
Mr. MWEETWA says Dr. MWANAWASA served the nation with distinction as First Lady.
He says Dr. MWANAWASA was a champion of various causes, particularly in the areas of health, education, and women's empowerment.
In a Statement to ZNBC News, Mr. MWEETWA who is also Information and Media Minister said Dr. MWANAWASA's commitment to improving the lives of Zambians, especially the most vulnerable, was evident in her tireless work and the many initiatives she spearheaded.
