- The Covid19 pandemic has cancelled or postponed nearly every community event for the months of april and may and this includes final activities for the high school graduating class. Sports and academic banquets, baccalaureate and other moments of recognition have all been curtailed by current state and local ordinances. The Hatteras Island community did not want to have to miss out on having a chance to formally honor the efforts of the class of 2020. So Cape Hatteras Secondary School decided to adapt with a senior car parade.
Seniors students convened at the southern tip of the island and then loaded into their cars and headed north in a caravan. Parents, teachers, the local community were able to cheer them all on roadside. Senior portraits of the entire graduating class lined the road in front of the secondary school.
The parade carrying the graduating class of 42 students carried on all the way to the northernmost village of rodanthe. Providing the students with a unique and memorable show of appreciation. Congratulations seniors.
