What stops the lid falling off please? Also what is the diameter of the blue disc. Without knowing the length of the paper tubes how do I make sure that once rolled they fit exactly round the blue disc please?

Everything which is used in this project like paper tube, cardboard disc.
So, as your requirement you can make it following this process.

Yes but if you cut the disc a fraction smaller or larger than you did the coils around the edge would not be an exact fit
