Hola! I saw this video go up over the weekend and I meant to watch it on Sunday night. Unfortunately, we had a snowstorm here on the coast of Maine on Saturday night, which ended as a bad ice storm. The ice on the trees caused many of the branches to fall, and that takes the power lines out. So, this area lost power for 24 hours or so. But it's mostly all good now, so I just finished watching tonight, Monday. Wow, this was one of the most interesting videos you've done. This place is amazing! After seeing this video, I can say that no visit to Spain is complete without going here. The Basilica is amazing. So much to see in there, and so much beautiful art. The column structures in the center are huge! The paintings on the ceilings - wow! I love all the small altars along the sides with paintings. The main alter - very impressive! I have never seen an altar so high up with so many steps before. Usually, it's just one or two steps up to the altar. And the artwork and sculptures surrounding the altar were spectacular. Wow. There was so much to see in this video, it's hard to remember it all, but the library was incredible too. I think the painting at 25:39 was the Last Supper? And the painting on the ceilings (vault painting) here were beautiful. The pantheons with the crypts holding the bodies, wow, wasn't expecting to see that. 31:10 Really interesting. The Pantheon of the Kings at the end was amazing. Definitely fit for the kings! The scenery outside from the gardens was beautiful. The view out to the mountains was so peaceful, and what a perfect setting for the monastery. Interesting shape on the bushes out in the gardens, with the big globe coming out of the very rectangular box shaped bushes. If I still owned a house, I think I would give that design a try with my own bushes. 😅 Nice fish in the small pool there too, I think I saw goldfish. 😃 The final scene was exceptional. The walk along the portico was great, and then the final shot with the two sections of the portico coming together - loved it! Very nice video. Enjoyed it. Take care.
Hola! It looks like you had a very busy weekend there. I'm sorry to hear it. I hope that weather there will improve with the arrival of spring. We continue to "enjoy" completely crazy weather here, last week we had summer time in some regions of Spain and now it is rainy weather, which has caused many Holy Week processions to have had to be suspended. It is a shame because people who are dedicated to carrying the sculptures through the streets in processions practice all the year. I'm very glad you enjoyed the tour. You are absolutely right, El Escorial monastery is a must-see when visiting Madrid, it is about 40 kilometers from the city. It is one of the most important buildings in Spain not only because it is grandiose but also because of its historical value. In my opinion, it is in the top 10 of Spanish monuments. So it was a tour that I should have done a long time ago 😄 Of all the parts of the building it is difficult for me to choose which one I like the most, I think the choice would be between the basilica, the library and the war room. Although not all parts of the building are there in this tour, otherwise it would have been excessively long, but the most important ones are. I agree with you, the basilica is very impressive, especially when you enter through the main entrance and see the altar in the background. It is not the largest church in Spain but it is one of the most impressive inside. I could have filmed a tour just for this. Altar is also impressive, the most striking thing is the sculptures on each side where the kings are represented praying. Yes, you are right 👍 That painting is the Last Supper, it is painted by Titian (Tiziano), he is one of the most important painters of the Renaissance and was one of the favorite painters of King Philip II. Unfortunately, I was not able to dwell in detail on the paintings in that room. 😂 Without a doubt, those gardens are a good source of inspiration. Thank you! I'm glad you liked that final shot. It was the entrance to the gardens and as I passed by I liked the way it looked from there, so I decided to end the walking tour that way. On my next tour I take a walk around Monastery, the town where it is located is also quite interesting. I hope you enjoy it too. See you in a few days 😉 I also hope that the weather is a little better 🤞 Take care
