  • My first build of 2019 is the classic KITT car from the original knightrider tv series.
This is a 1/24 plamo scale kit from aoshima.
I plan on adding all my own lighting including of course the front scanning light.
    But first up the dash!
I have added my own lighting to this as shown in the video including the red light for kitt's voice.
    hope you enjoy the video👍

Wonderful work! A buddy of mine and I are curious what the thin paper material you used at 0:36 is? Is it simply paper or a material specific to model cars?

Thankyou very much, its actually the plastic from the side of a milk carton which was ideal as it is opaque so diffuses the light well but any similar material would work to.👍

Hi great work, how did you get Kitts voice box to flash when speaking. Also did you use a separate programmed with his actual voice.?

Thankyou, the voice box is just a flickering led that gives the impression of it speaking and the voice is from an arduino df player mp3 module that I can load any audio track onto,in this case due to limited space I just left it externally and activated it whilst filming the video so its not actually directly connected to kitt,in my other larger builds I fit the same setup internally and it activates the sound when the lighting is turned on.
      Hope that helps👍

Did you use 5mm lights with a 3 mm flasher on the same circuit?

    • @DHDSCALEMODELS

They are all 3 mm leds with a common negative feed but the positive for the flickering led is fed separately directly from the battery so as not to cause any flickering on the other leds.

Ahh. So ground to ground same. Power is seperated, but same power source. ?

Trying my hand at this as I own a real one withna season 4 set up inside. Looking to make the dash the same style as your sample. I've done other types of vehicles with lights. But KITT I always wanted to do after my first Aoshima build. But researching had come to a stand still until I came across your vid.

yes exactly,if you don't run a separate positive wire to flashing or flickering leds then they will cause static leds on the same positive wire to also flash/flicker.👍
