Ms Turner, You should be justly proud. I have been following Josh on TH-cam for about a year and he never ceases to amaze me with his music abilities. Wishing he, you and the family the best.
What's astonishing is not just the technical perfection but the musical intelligence. In every sense, it is a performance of startling wonder. It leaves you dazed and dazzled.
Not just a great performance, not just technically excellent, but probably most strikingly, this is truly original. Blues leans on the same licks rearranged differently. As much as I love the blues - all kinds of blues, this was different in a very important way: it was not predictable. It was fresh. Thank you for bringing something new to the blues.
While I agree with you about the excellent technique and great performance, I'm afraid I don't about the originality. Josh is covering a tune by the one and only Bruce Cockburn.
I now at 76 years old have two awesome guitar faves, Martin Taylor and Josh Turner. Both very different souls but their music has that really pure acoustic finger style genius that is so very very rare. Josh your music is bringing so much pleasure to a grey world, be proud, and so many people are waiting for a purchasable download of your 60s cover versions. Smile, you are awesome! ❤
I was lucky enough to see Martin Taylor play a tiny room in Sheffield years ago, a true virtuoso. Josh's beautiful playing here is worthy of the comparison.
This guy plays like I wish I could, and I have been playin a long time!!! What talent, and his song choices across the board resonate with my inner open chord! Hats off to you, young man. Keep the flame of soulful acoustic artistry and meaningful lyrics alive for the next generation!
cunard61 You may be right there, my friend. Robert Johnson couldn't have been the only one. Paganini, Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Slash, something tells me the Devil is VERY real.

We use it when we mean that person knows what he does. He really knows what he's doing. I've heard this a hundred times. Really. And it is tremendous. Thanks Josh!
When I saw the title of this song I got my guitar and wanted to see if I might play along. About 10 seconds into the video I put my guitar back into the case from which it came.
Get it back out man. Took me about 6 months of practising every day but I learned this piece. I can finally play this piece through, learned from this video and the original. A truly beautiful track is worth the work, good luck :)

Been three years since I made my first comment on this performance. It is still one of THE Best acoustic solo blues performances out there. You are truly a fine musician!
Josh seems to effortlessly hit each note with the characteristics that tell you how much he puts into his craft. Really dig when he teams up with Larkin. Gifted kids cheer me up!
I remember stumbling upon this video on late 2018, and here I am listening to Josh and Carson practically every single day since then. I've never been more thankful to the algorithm for introducing me to such blissful musicians.
I don't know if this young man ever has time to read the comments, but i'm an old guy, and not a day goes by that I dont listen to everything I can that's posted on this channel. Such Talent. Thanks Josh et al.
Leah Turner - The love shown this young man in his formative years is so evident in his playing styles. Thank you, to your and your husband, for bringing this talent to life. And for providing him with the drive and desire to be the musician he has, and will, become. He is talented beyond belief. I think if he would've been introduced to Chet Atkins, he would've been immediately titled CGP ... Certified Guitar Player ... on the spot. He is awesome!

Hey Josh, as much as I enjoy your ensemble numbers (they're fun), this is just breathtakingly amazing. A fair number of guitarists can play this song. I've not seen or heard anyone play it so effortlessly and with such feeling. What a wonderful thing it must be to be so talented at something you love.
I've been listening to this guy and his band for the past few days. They are brilliant! I've been playing in bands for 25 years (bass) and their skills have only made me feel like I don't know how to play properly😀

I realize now why I like Josh so much. Bruce Cockburn is one of my all time favourite guitar players, and Josh is in the same league. Josh, please let us know when you’re back in Ottawa. I will not miss it, guaranteed!
As a guitar player from birth I've been studying Bruce Cockburn since I first saw him on CBC television's Tommy Hunter show in the late 60s. This piece is certainly one of his most intriguing. Josh Turner....you have absolutely nailed it!...every nuance captured perfectly! What an amazing talent and resolve you display.... your own musicianship as well as your amazing collaborations with all those beautiful young people is so very uplifting! Thank you for all your hard work..I wish you all the best!

367 people are jealous they can't play the guitar as well as Josh Turner. Actually, probably a million more people are jealous, but only 367 have the nerve to say they don't like this.
Josh, greetings from neighboring Kentucky. From a guy who has played the piano by ear ever since I can remember, I can certainly understand and appreciate your brilliance. I love a wide range of music styles and genres, and on top of you mastering the guitar and other stringed instruments, much of your appeal to me at least, among other things, is your obvious love of anything from classical, to bluegrass, to the blues, and all others! You can smoothly trade one for another without missing a proverbial beat. Your guitars and equipment are all fantastic, and I love seeing you and your friends collaborate to make some fabulous arrangements, all the while having great fun doing it. You have caused me on numerous occasions to stay up way too late watching, listening, and enjoying, but that loss of sleep has always been well worth it. All the best success to you and your companions (they are ALL great too!)--I hope this can be a springboard to a wonderful career in music and rewards beyond imagination. Thanks for sharing your devine gift. Don't let anything stop you! Pat
Perfect Pat. I've only been listening and watching for a short time and am amazed at this talent. We hope to see you Josh in the big show. Looking forward to lots more and wishing you and your colleagues all the best of success and great times. Stay true to yourself and the music you love!
Coming from someone who can play eruption while brushing his teeth.... I can't tell you how impressed I am with your playing.... I lived down the street from the Elgin hotel for 9 years when I was younger. It was a venue for the more hoity toity crowd. Up the street a block and around the corner though was the Beacon Arms Hotel, and in the basement was a blues club with pretty awesome live music. I saw lots of great music there including Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee, This is a beautiful rendition of pretty classic blues. So proud of you and the work you put into this. I know. Humbly, thanks.
I keep coming back to this.....I am an old man and listen to a lot of music. I play a little also. If I could do this once I could die happy.....Well done Josh. You and your group keep me happy and engaged. Kudos to all of you.
Your playing style is so ominous and smooth. I love every single thing you've ever put out, and if you ever come to the east coast for a show, you can be sure I'll be there
That's a high compliment! It isn't Tommy though, it's Chet and SlowHand. Chet was careful, Tommy isnt - they're both precise, but TE has a Beethoven style Metallica excitement. Chet was an Olympic gold medal in Greco-Roman, TE is heavyweight MMA gold. You're on by calling Clapton though. Tommy ROCKS, Chet composes. Still a very high compliment, a Chet Clapton is quite a thing. This is really good. However: Clapton can't mix with Tommy. Tommy is brave, Clapton is surgical. Both very good, but they can't be fused. It would be like fusing Jerry Reed with Santana, or Eminem with Dave Matthews.
Well, yes. This young man has it, and in spades!! Lovely playing and with feeling!! This is why *I* do not play the blues... I plays what I plays and that IS my story and I AM stickin' to it! Doggone, Josh, you have a great touch! Well done.
This is the first song I ever heard Josh play. Five years later I am still a fan and even received one of his CDs (autographed) as a Christmas gift. Keep creating Josh!
f******g awesome !!! thought sounds like clapton's unplugged, :), sounds like a so great martin guitar. Well done, accoustic blues the way it's meant to be played :)
Josh, you are one heck of a musician!!! Get in the lime light!!!!! And rip it up out there!!! There are people becoming famous and THEY don't have 10% the talent you have!!
Been playing guitar since 1973. Everyday and night. I can't even hope to play this well. I don't envy. Play on young prodigy.

Well, yes. This young man has it, and in spades!! Lovely playing and with feeling!! This is why *I* do not play the blues... I plays what I plays and that IS my story and I AM stickin' to it! Doggone, Josh, you have a great touch! Well done.
So talented, a gift, and he shares it with us!
I didn't hear anything.......I felt it. that was sweet!
Whenever I play guitar this is the kind of thing I hear. But no one else hears it.
This is pure magic. Hat off.
that thuddy muted d is what it's all about
Man, so tasteful. God job!
It seriously sounds better. Clapton did nothing with his blues talent one of the most overrrated guitar guitarists.
He does sound Clapton don't he
Josh, you are one heck of a musician!!!
Get in the lime light!!!!!
And rip it up out there!!!
There are people becoming famous and THEY don't have 10% the talent you have!!
Reminds me of Jorma. I can’t tell you how many times I have listened to this.
Dude, fantastic! Get into session work like right now. You're seriously good.
Just found this one...........an’ glad I did! Good tunes!
