I have one, and I love it, that 312 is great, the 57 is the most beautiful of the three years!

Antenna relocated to the driver's rear fender. The stock position is the passenger's front fender. The optional location is the center leading edge of the trunk lid. This probably originally had the rare trunk lid mounted antenna.

Like 55 from Detroit. Simpler cleaner lines. By 57 they were going overboard on chrome and steel and by 58 forget it

When you select Dr, the car starts out in 2nd gear UNLESS you floor it. You have to put it in L to start out in 1st gear. You can hold 2nd gear by starting out in L, slipping it to Dr and bringing it back to L at a certain speed.

The reason the tach does not work is because the distributor was replaced. The mechanical tach works off a drive from an original distributor much like a speedometer cable.

It is a nicely restored driver quality car. I can tell the interior is a kit because the aftermarket door panels have a "puffy" embossing compared to the more crisp and sharp original embossing. I THINK you can still buy original door panels from Ford as well has dash pads. But I have not been able to decern a difference between original dash pads and reproduction ones. And the embossing on the seat back (which has a similar Thunderbird pattern as the medallions on the top) was only on the very earliest 1957 Thunderbirds.

Fit and finish is very good. The underside was obviously not restored.

Why are you driving with the hardtop?
Looks like the weather is fine.

Looks like someone ruined a rare non-porthole top by adding portholes to it, which happened often. You can tell by the little black medallion to the fore lower corner near the portholes which are only on 1957 non-porthole tops. The 1956 non-porthole tops did not have any medallions. ALL 1955 tops are non-porthole and they had a Ford crest in the same area has the 1957 T-Bird non-porthole top medallion.

Interior door pull handles mounted on the garnish rails are not original.
