Does anyone else hear a list of things and IMMEDIATELY want to make them all into a single story? I keep doing that with playlist song titles, and now my brain just started doing it with this list. Which made for a SUPER DARK beginning that suddenly opens up into seeing a cat outside while waiting in line behind your new neighbor. oooh the distant relative is the one you got into danger that got tortured in front of you. You got into a pub fight with them because they were in disguise. You realized who they were during the earthquake. Okay, holup, let me write these down. 1. Give up an item of huge emotional importance. 2. Leader abandoned by own people. 3. Redemption arc that comes too late. 4. Making a mistake too big to be forgiven. 5. Unrequited love w/childhood best friend. 6. Family betrayal. 7. Realizing true love too late. 8. Not being believed by those closest when it matters. 9. At peace with tragic destiny. 10. Addiction/pitfall relapse. 11. Honest mistake with horrible consequences. 12. Huge effort, no results. 13. Watch friend/family get tortured without being able to stop it. 14. Accidentally sent loved one into danger. 15. New family moves in next door. 16. Person holding up the line. 17. Stray cat in front of your building. 18. Pub fight. 19. Local fire in emotionally important spot. 20. Traffic jam on the way to somewhere important. 21. Kitchen appliance MacGyvering. 22. Laundromat lady becomes your Mr. Miyagi. 23. Earthquake! 24. Distant relative shows up asking to reconnect. 25. Financial struggle due to previous debts. 26. Local competition. 27. Family asks for help, but you don't want to help. 28. Get a pet! 😻 29. Childhood friend reappears but avoids you. 30. Utilities are shut off. _i wasn't going to do all of these, but i guess i'm invested now..._ 31. Stolen parking spot. 32. Fun fair! 33. Love interest has family tragedy and has to leave. 34. Storm! 35. New, mysterious person becomes center of attention. 36. Near collision. 37. Loud neighbors. 38. Learn a new skill to achieve goal. 39. Community service. 40. Addicted to take-away but not to food. 41. Odd job. 42. Drunken bet they have to win. 43. Catches a cold. 44. *_WAIT, did i miss one?!?!?!?!?_* 😭😭😭
@@mah2418 that goes down to pacing i guess. if the pacing is nice, not too slow, not too fast then having all of them would fit just nicely. i'd say just implement all of them in your structure first. then when you get to writing your first draft, things that you feel right about it then you add it in. for things that aren't suitable, put it on the backburner. when you get to draft two, see if there are things that can be added or redacted from your draft. it's a tedious process for sure but it's worth it in the end (^-^)
noooooo! i worked on a manuscript recently that had one and it was done beautifully. even though i knew it was coming because the client told me in advance, i still found myself being fooled!
