Your suggestion regarding building a site around a hobby/topic/niche then integrating product reviews (affiliate marketing for instance) is spot on. You need a balance between “informational” type content and “money”/”review”/”buying” type content. But when you pick the hobby/overall topic, you need to check that there is solid commercial potential, i.e, there are products to promote (Amazon is a good place to start checking this) and a decent (AdSense) CPC (an indicator of commercial potential) for keywords covering the particular niche. So it's all a matter of balance. If you directly go for product reviews then you might as well be an eCommerce operation trying to compete directly with GIANTS such as Amazon, Best Buy etc. etc., and needless to say that's a tough ask for (dare I say) small to medium enterprises such as you and me..
Some visitors will be further down the “buying cycle” and they will probably directly land on a particular product review page. This type of page will probably be super focused, i.e, the page will be focused on a topic or keyword that is long-tail. In the event that they browse around your site they will see that you cover the particular niche/topic in depth and this serves to build trust. People buy from those they like and trust. They will eventually start viewing your website as a type of authority - a go-to - in the given space.
On the other hand, someone searching for informational type content, i.e., a guide or DIY tutorial etc. will also see that you cover the niche/topic in detail and as a bonus you have products available from your tutorials/guides that makes their life easier as all the products are in one place and much of the heavy lifting regarding research has already been done for them. All this again leads to higher trust scores. Higher trust and likeability typically then results in higher conversion rates, that is, more sales!
The key is to BUILD TRUST AND LIKEABILITY AT ALL COST by giving your users exactly what they are looking for which is solid, useful, unique information that helps them solve their problems or fulfills their desires. Interestingly this will lead to higher returns for you in the medium to long term. It is a type of “enlightened self-interest.” Focus on your audience's needs first and you won’t go wrong!
Also, I know we have a tendency to want to see money as fast as possible but you need to allow at least 3 months, even 6 months maybe more to get out of the ‘Google Sandbox’ and start seeing decent (organic) traffic stream to your site. Folks start calculating their earnings (all types of metrics, hourly rate etc.) far too early in my humble opinion in which case you are not really an entrepreneur then because you are operating from an employee type mindset in which typically you work a certain amount of hours and immediately get paid for those hours worked, i.e., trading time for money. By definition, entrepreneurialism requires that you put in an initial investment first, a time in which you may see no to minimal returns so that in the medium and definitely long term you will see returns that should very well far exceed your (monetary) expectations.
Just my two cents.. Glad I found your channel. Awesome content. Subbed :]
Best wishes to everybody and here’s to another prosperous year in 2019! Onwards and upwards!

keith howlette Hi Keith, I also believe that the expired domain I picked up was a spammy domain. So I plan to move the content to a new domain, then rewrite to make it less spammy, I have another sports based website I plan to combine as it has more informational type articles that will hopefully boost the website.
I have a fishing website that perfectly describes what Jim had mentioned, more informational content, your own photos, a more personalized feel... But I managed to delete the site last year, so I have recovered the content and now rebuilding it based on Jim's advice.

Do you write around keywords or does the length of you articles just organically end up having the keywords important to the topic in it?

Hi, its funny because i think product review pages are better, because people usually search for specific things. "The best..." "Top 10..." vs the long topic blog, which seem to be long and unspecific. Its like if you want to get with a girl/guy, the best approach is upfront for more success vs the guy who likes the girl and comes up with a story each time, but fails to ask her out within the opportune time or beats around the bush. It may seem spammy because we're in the affiliate business, but most people, like Facebook users, don't know that review sites are affiliates (EZvids, 10Beasts, etc, etc). We assume they know we're an affiliate site when in actuality, the majority really doesn't know and could care less.
BTW--i really like and enjoy your videos.

I keep thinking to myself "Yeah, but I'm not really into anything and I don't know what to make a site about." I've been living in Vietnam for two years. I've had a Vietnamese girlfriend and we were talking about getting married. I've learned some Vietnamese, celebrated the major holidays learned about the religion, laws, history, and culture. I know a ton of people from the expat community here but i have even more Vietnamese friends. Also, there is a steady (almost concerning) rise in the number of Westerners coming here to start a new life that don't know where to begin and they're given wrong or low-quality information.
If only I could think of a good niche idea though....

I actually thing that the "rowing machine" niche is quite big. Look at the 38million sites you hit on google. Most sites are huge shops like amazon and many others. It is probably really hard to rank at. It needs to be an authority site written by somebody who is willing to share everything about rowing technique, training for his next rowing tournament etc. More like a lifestyle blog in combination with rowing.

Hello thank you for a very useful series of videos. I am going through all of them one by one . Can you please consider answering these questions either in comments or in a separate video? I am disabled with chronic pain and with speech recognition as my only means to connect with the outside world, I am putting up free speech recognition tutorial on TH-cam along with textual instructions on my blog with a link to the video tutorial . What kind of niche can I write on? The two I have are assistive Technology for the disabled and dealing with chronic pain medically. I can perhaps also write on how to deal with being increasingly impoverished ( frugal living finances) but I can't sell anything on that . I was hoping that my website which is now 1 year old will help me pay some bills but so far I have not made even a single affiliate Commission on pages with 1000 views. I was assuming that at least 1% of visitors will buy. The second question is when someone is providing TH-cam video tutorials then should the length of the blog be stil 40 00 words . I regarded TH-cam video tutorials wasr Central piece of information while the blog was to provide extra information like anything that I would have left in the video tutorial plus it also serve as another channel for SEO. Thank you for any input.

Hi, i got question. I am from Poland i thinking about making something like this in my country. how do you thinking making it in polish is worth try, you know market is less but not that used when i saw my research. I can wright in both languages, i think i found interesting topic. Do you think there will be same income ideas then as English language? In Poland Amazon is not that popular but there are different sites, i was searching for become a partner or something i couldn't find it, do you think when i will send e mail to those guys and talk with them there is a chance i will make a deal?
About writing, do you think i can wright more opened to ppl, not official? Example " After my reaserch about self defence knifes i found out that using regular knifes are very hard to use and need a lot of training. I gone with my research to different level and i found so cool knifes that they are easier and safer to use" etc.. etc..

Szymon Ćwięczek If you can write and understand English (which apparently you can), you should write in English. The market is just WAY bigger.

You think so? I know that is way bigger, you know even me, when is something i want to know i ask google in English but i know that a lot people in my country has no idea about english and there is topics that answers is hard to find, really hard to find. For example when i try in polish how to self defense or what can i use to defend myself there is only sites that selling things. That is examples. I saw a lot of stuff.
How do you think there is something like locations in google search, for example i am writhing in poland but in english my website has .com and guy from India wright something close to my subject, he can find it? I know strange question but i am curious about it.

The competition in Polish will be less. But the market will be smaller. It's a trade-off. Can you make money on a niche site in Polish? Absolutely. Especially with low competition. You just have a lot more potential if you can break into a niche in the English market because of its size. I'd be interested to see how your site does if you go for something in Polish. It would be a really interesting case study for sure.

The longer the article is, the more keywords it has. The more keywords it has, the more potential traffic it will bring.

This is not 2005. The reason for the long article is engagement, not kw spamming. Google is focused on value and user experience. If people are abandoning your website in 10-30 seconds they are not going to waste their users time ranking krap. The days of users alerting google of krap are over, it is all algorithm now. It cannot be gamed (that is a good thing).

@@johndough23 I agree, it is about making the content really valuable FIRST, and then before hitting publish, just check to see if the main and LSI keywords would make the content flows better - then sprinkle them in. Keyword is just the "key" to unlock the "content room" - the room is what the user seeks, not the key itself.

As a copywriter - never artificially boost your article length or forcefully add keywords. It'll look spammy. Instead, just make it as long/short as it needs to be to get the message across.
In other words, if you want to write a long article, make it a deep detailed piece that really covers all aspects of the topic. You know? Instead of unnecessarily droning on about surface level stuff

Hi guys! Just out of curiosity, and based on your personal experience - what number of visits per month would be an average to earn your site $1000 in revenue?
I understand this is a very broad question with a ton of variables but let's just say someone produces content similar to the quality of your niche sites. Let's say the average price of products promoted on the site are around $100 - $150 and let's say the commission is 8%.
You guys probably picked up a few patterns by now so myself and probably others too, would love to know a ballpark figure for the number of visitors per month to earn a potential revenue of $1000.
    As always, thank you!

Around 30,000 pageviews per month. This video actually breaks that down by traffic and site age.

I think another reason it failed is because I don't believe any one person or company could legitimately test out over 30 different rowing machines, at least thoroughly enough, to take their reviews seriously.

Whats your thought on getting someone on Fiverr to write and article 2000 words plus. Im not very good on writing myself but i understand the need for large relevant content.

    • @IncomeSchool
      @IncomeSchool  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

You could try Fiverr. You just need to really scrutinize their content. The problem is you may end up paying upfront for an article that you get back and it turns out to be trash. That's why I'd rather hire a writer as a contractor, teach them how I want my articles written, and then pay them per word for their articles.

Thanks for the advice, i'v tried to write one my self. Its on the landing page of one of my Niche website. Im going to join your school and pay the $199 I was just trying to sell some affiliate product to pay the fee.

11:48 I think I get it. In a nutshell, it pays to actually experience the niche of your website, even if you don't need to be an "expert" at all.

The problem I have is that in previous videos you’ve said you can do a Google search analytics et cetera and find a subject that everybody is looking for that is a good niche, in this video you more or less say that you have to be carrying out and be part of the niche yourself.
So that means you have to be actually doing what you are writing about? I find this very confusing

    • @IncomeSchool

Ade2Bee the suggestion is to learn all you can about your niche. In many cases it’s a good idea to get into the niche if you can. If you literally know nothing about it and don’t have interest in getting into it you’ll have a harder time coming up with helpful advice to share.
