Hey! First of all thank you for showing this. Second: I make industrial techno so it has a bunch of distortion. I managed to get the short term lums to -5,2 and it sounds nice but the true peak meter shows it's above 0. Is it relevant to industrial tracks or only the lums matter? And how can I get it under 0 to still be loud and nice?
@@lajosnotaros713 true peaks are no big deal if they go beyond the set target. Even big pop artists have those peaks sometimes at +4db. If you want to tame them however, you should slightly decrease your low end, for instance with a multiband compressor. If you can control the low end, then you can push things higher without too much extra distortion.
@@terryv.schijndel9949 for streaming you can come away with -14, but when you also sell mp3 or wave files, -5 is way better. DJ's who buy those tracks are used to those levels.
Go as loud as you can, dont listen to this -14 bullshit etc. It will sound good after normalisation, if its (reasonably) well produced/mastered when compared to pro tracks. One cant be making one master for spotify, one for soundcloud, one for live shows etc etc.... one loudest master (without sacrificing much of a definition) to rule them all... if you are at anywhere in between -7 to -5 LUFS, u r good, PROs tend to go towards -5, but from my experience, there is not as much difference in -7 and -5 LUFS, and If it sounds better at -7 i would not go for -5 just for the sake of it....also it is very song dependent. I was able to push some masters into -2 and it didnt sound broken, so it all comes down to the track itself. Good luck!
Also, if you want to go much louder and cleaner, Newfangled audio elevate is the thing to go for. The clarity even when pushed crazily into their spectral limiter is amazing
