Hi Pete me again the fuel alternatives back in about 2010 I worked at a auto workshop a few of use clubed together and bought a chip oil convertering kit from ebay for £150 it consisted of 1 x50 gal oil drum 5 x25 lt buckets a heater elliment like what you have in a hot water tank several filters to strane the chip oil and Methanol to add to the mix when straned chip oil is warmed up we worked out it was costing 28p per Lt which was great as i had just bought a fiat stilo 1.9 td for £100 that had broken down outside the workshop which is another storey I took the car from london to Glasgow and back at 55 to 65 mph overnight averaging 70mpg most of the journey i think for about £40 in fuel the only thing was a slight smell of chips cooking when using this chip oil they do recommend changing fuel filters more oftern but i did not and would somtimes just put in the odd £15 of deasil fuel

My experience was the strikes in the late 90`s with rape seed oil .
It happened in the summer so i simply started to use cooking oil as diesel was getting a pain to get hold of. Nothing added ... no messing around ..... off the shelf and straight into the tank undiluted . It had the odd tenners worth of diesel added but it was running around the 75-90% oil most of the time .
By the time winter rolled around you could get diesel once more so i dropped back to a 50/50 mix . As long as it was thinned out it was good to go .
However some tosser at the sun newspaper got wind that the scotts were using it as diesel and printed that ...... the shops put the price up to the same price as diesel .... its point was then lost .You could get it cheap from Wing Yip ( a chinese food supplier ) still but you had to buy in serious bulk .
Some cars you could pour it in and ignore .... mine being 3L diesel toyotas . Others didnt like the stuff so it was hit and miss .
I also used old chip fat but it was a massive pain creating a cascade to filter the stuff . I didnt heat it and used coffee filters which did the job although the smell of chips was epic . It took a week to filter 20L . It was recommended to add white spirt and alsorts of oddities but i never bothered . I based this on the small matter africas littered with these cars and the fuel there is awful so it should be an issue .

Jet Fuel and Rocket Fuel is more expensive just not taxed
We have an Iveco that runs on CNG. I not used it myself yet. It does run on diesel too
