If you know how to hand clean and dry your own clothes, the biggest trouble involves having food and maybe gas if you choose to use a car (which is perfectly reasonable, as backpacking everywhere is a little hardcore.) As a rule, I put way to much thought into how living like Snufkin could work.
In my opinion: yes, best friends make the best basis for relationships. On the other hand... don't take advice from a man who has been single for the last 5-6 years.
