Your review is precise and well thought out. It was such a meh movie, so many things didn't make sense. Just like you said most things had no beginning and no ending, no explanation whatsoever and no motivations for the characters to act the way they act. Even the very sleepy friend who only became that way after he forgot his wish because he surrendered it to Magnifico, I felt like him being drowsy had nothing to do about his wish to become a soldier. If it was something like wishing to be an entertainer, or I don't know a magician? that would make better sense why he became so dull after forgetting his wish.

Yea, everything was so surface level. I’m used to there being a deeper meaning in Disney flicks. But no, everything was just about getting a wish granted. It just wasn’t as important as they were making it out to be.

I think about Magnifico, and I think Disney probably would've been better off if they made someone evil just because. DreamWorks does it all the time (specially Jack Horner from their own movie about wishes).

Disney normally does a great job with exposition and back story. I guess they're hiring mediocre writers now.
