Setting up MINI MATING nucs trying to outrace the rain!

Haven’t checked the queen cells in several days because the past 3 days have been a crucial time of development for them. So I need to set up my mating nucs to get ready for installation tomorrow. We got at LEAST 5 cells that got started but hoping for more!
We have a 100% chance of rain today so I’m racing the weather!
My daughter, daughter in law, and 3/5 of the grands picked strawberries yesterday, ate lunch, then went to the park where we all pitched in painting the mating nucs! We painted them different colors so hopefully it will help the queens identify their home when returning from their mating flights.
We will install the queen cells tomorrow and pray for success!

I like mini mating nucs , I’m gonna try adding pine straw to the lil feeders to keep them from drowning , hopefully .

We are going into rainy season. I feel for you and that snow! Glad we don’t have that to deal with. But it’s a trade off with the summer heat here!

Try removing feed tray till after you set bees up. Then fill with syrup and set in nuc.

put mosquito screen in the feeder so the bees can climb out ..........many less will drown.
