The checkmate at 1:14:11 is a thing of beauty. As a 1250, I can’t imagine how you were able to calculate that final sequence. To smother the king with his own rook-with three seconds on the clock!

Yes, but he wanted to go for the mate threat and the bishop was already trapped (can't go anywhere, so he could always trap it later)
Yes, but checkmate is better. Check out what that 17. e6 pawn is doing in the final position at 13:47.
After 17. b3 fxe5 18. bxc4 e6 and White is up a bishop, but now Black has an escape route for the king, and the queen and rook can get in to defend against the Ng5/Qh7 mate.

@@amoreazione3563 At first I agreed with you, although I would have played knight d2 after BxC3, which only loses a pawn. But I put the scenario into Lichess, and apparently it's a blunder (engine rating goes 0.7 → 5.0 for white), because after

, white can play Nb5, which not only threatens to take the rook (Nc7), but also makes it possible for white to soon trap black's queen (Nc3). It's kind of hard to explain in text, so I recommend looking it up, it's something where black seems to have an advantage, but white has so many threats.
