They sound the same in concert as they do on the recordings. (seen them twice, met them once) Huuuuuge fan!

HOW? How does he sing with that much tone while playing bass?!!? It's the kind of thing you can't practice, as it's all about being super present in what you're singing, but playing the bass at the same time, plus amp and pedal switching, such an impressive musician.
With practice it's quite natural, it's not "Okay I got to switch my pedal next mesure" but more like a choregraphy you know by heart

Royal Blood are in honesty the band of this decade in my opinion. There are a lot of greats from the 00's that are still putting out good music, but in terms of new artists, these guys are leading the charge. WAAX are great as well, Pretty Vicious look promising, but RB have made legitimately elite music that holds up to the best ever. I remember losing hope a few years ago that maybe the days of high level rock were dying, but I've never been so happy to be wrong

It's really interesting how Mike plays with mostly down strokes, a lot of bassists & guitarists alternate but I didn't notice Mike alternating or using any upstrokes at all.
Dunno whether it’s just me or what but in my opinion down strokes sound more “bassier” which might be the reasoning behind it. Not entirely sure but might just be my playing style

I didn't realize it either, I knew there were only two members but I just never put two and two together.
Blake Spurlock he's splitting his signal and running one into an octave and then a guitar amp, and he can switch between the bass and guitar sound or just the guitar sound

It’s actually more clever than that. He actually plays through two amps at once. One of which plays the regular bass pitch, the other is put through a pitch shifter

I think all these tracks have a more interesting sound than the studio ones on the album.... a nice garage kind of sound, if you know what i mean good work guys :)

You say computer generated sounds but he uses a billion pedals to achieve this sounds, most of them being digital which means it's generated from a computer in a way.

my only issue with their live performances is the rhythm - to my ears, it often sounds kind of floating even within one song - sometimes it's faster, sometimes slower

Levi Beverly what I mean is tho, when they talk about bass players in music they generally always go on about black guys in funk and soul bands, I know there are great white bassists out there, I played bass, not in the league of these guys but they generally think white guys don't have rhythm or something and people think you need great rhythm to play bass
