Fun fact, the placement of an American Woodcock’s eyes offers it a panoramic, almost 360 degree view! When it’s facing away from the camera, you can see how the eyes are partially facing backwards (pause it at 0:49)
We have one in mtns of NC in early November - large bird in yard feeding upon worms and hornet larvae or pupae underground: the adult hornets excavate holes in earth for reproduction.
