My experience with the 35mm 1.8 S has been very similar to yours. It’s a sharp, well corrected lens, but just has a flat rendering. It left me soured on 35mm for a while until I got the Voigtlander 35 f2 APO - excellent lens with beautiful rendering. Then I recently picked added the Tamron 35 f1.4 SP… adapts perfectly to my Z8; no issues. Beautiful colors and incredibly sharp. It’s very similar to the Sigma 40mm f1.4, but has even more of the “wow” factor (while being smaller and lighter). So don’t be afraid to try the Tamron at some point. From what I’ve read, the bulk of their early problems with the FTZ largely revolved around the 45mm 1.8. All that being said, now I suddenly have the itch to try the Nikkor 1.4…
I've been longing for the 35mm 1.2 for some time now and almost considered what you just did. For now, I'm covering with the 24-70mm 2.8 and holding out hope. 😂
Got this lens in almost new condition some time ago. Made me like the 35mm for the first time. Also have the 24mm 1.4. Those are very good lenses. The original prices are little bit over the top. Maybe you could do a comparison between the AF-S 35mm 1.4, the z 35mm 1.4 and also the 1.8?
@@Tom_367 if I did those videos, it would much in the future, but I think the 35 1.8 S would be a more fun comparison. Probably a little closer in optics.
@ZWadePhoto The comparison between the FX and the Z 35mm 1.4 could be very interesting. It might be that the modern lens has overall better quality than the old one for a fraction of the price.
@@mrdarryljones1 Nikon 35mm f/1.4 G. I wouldnt be opposed to third party for the upcoming camera, actually a big fan of Tamron, but I want stuff that will work adapted to mirrorless as well and the Tams didn’t do that well in early mirrorless

@@AnalogMan_DigitalCamera now I have an itch to get the Tamron if it’s actually adapting well lol. My other Tamrons were BAD adapted
Thank You for this interesting video!
@@PsychedelicChameleon thank you for watching!
That’s funny, I just bought a 35mm f/1.4G from EBay and love it. I think I bought for different reasons but who cares it’s banger of a lens.
@@jorsetti and I know you’re gonna make some magic with it 🙌
The Tamron smokes it in the edge to edge sharpness department.
@Ton-x4r I think it beats it everywhere haha. I’m just worried to adapt after my early experiences

@@chrishilton6378 it’s been anticipated for a VERY long time. We got that tiny little hint awhile ago then poof

You do know what this means.....
The 35mm f1.2 S will be introduced next week!
Heheheh!
Probably. lol I have 90 days to change my mind lol
I just sold my Tamron 35 1.4 just to get the 1.4G 😂 I didn’t like the perfect image of the Tamron… I must be crazy
Hey to each their own!
The 35mm 1.4 Sigma F mount?

@ Got it! I do hope they come out with the 35 1.2. But I have to wait for my 35 1.8 to get back from Nikon. I just dropped it! 💀
