    I live in PR and I love to see the videos posted by tourists on TH-cam who visit our island. I have to commend you that this is one of the best that I have seen. Your comments on the traffic, food and places that you visited were just spot on. Your views with the drone were just spectacular. 👍
    Thanks for visiting our island. Blessings from PR.

    FYI Barbeque was brought back to Europe by the Spanish who saw the indigenous Taino people cooking “Barbacoa”. The word barbeque originated in PR. So yes, there are lots of barbeque places.

    We visited Puerto Rico also, and found it amazing; we had visited big cities: San Juan, Caguas, Bayamon, Ponce and Mayaguez. Also went to El Yunque Tropical rain forest-this forest gets 400 billions of gallons of rain fall each year. It was a great vacation, unforgettable for us as well. Thanks for you video.

    As I can't edit the video here are some corrections/background for the video:
    There is a huge contravercy over the Taco vs Empanadilla part of the food section. They are called both ways depending on who you ask or where you buy them. The specific spot where I bought them they were labeled and called tacos but they can be called differently by others. I left that out of my video as we just learned this.
    Also, there is a lot of contravercy over where the Pina colada was created as well but I won't get into that one...
    Also regarding rainforests "El Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System" so I misspoke in the video calling it the only rainforest in the US. There are other rainforests but this is the only tropical one in the US Natl Forest System.

      Caribbean cuisine is different from mexican cuisine. And, depending on the island you are, you can have a myriad of different dishes than in themselves, are unique to each island. PR and Cuban cuisine are very similar. Also with Dominican cuisine. What you ate, regardless of how they called in that estanco, is not a taco, is an empanadilla. I love Luquillo Beach. Thank you for showing us that beautiful PR beaches.

Next time must visit Cayo Caracoles or Cayo Mata La Gata in La Parguera in the town of Lajas.(Cayo Caracoles has no land only mangroves but Cayo Mata La Gata has land and the west part of this cayo has some gorgeous mangrove canals. Caracole/shore.) Also must visit Buyé Beach in Cabo Rojo on the west part of the Island. Additionaly I highly recommend Playa Tortuga in Culebrita (small island Northeast of Culebra). Must take a water taxi from Culebra to get there. Playa Tortuga (Turtle Beach was among the top three beaches I'm not sure if on Trip Advisor) but in my opinión is the best besch in Puerto Rico. Must take a cooler with water and drinks becausr the island is deserted! Good luck!

      It was the DJI Mavic Mini 1. I would suggest getting the mini 3/4 though as the 1 can't shoot 4k but you can still pull some good footage from it with 2.7K.

      We just stayed at an AirBnB in Trujillo Alto. But a resort would be nice as well. San Juan area is pretty good as it's central to basically everywhere on the island. Most of the places to check out are spread evenly on each side so driving from San Juan area isn't too bad.

    You forgot to see the rum distillery, the paso fino horses which are puertorrican and the phosphorescent bays. There’s only a few in the world and two are in PR. Also, you didn’t taste the fine dining food. The cod fish and rice dish, the puertorrican lasagna , the arroz con gandules with pasteles and the best pork in the world which is in PR suckling pig on the barbecue stick, it’s considered the best in the world. There’s also throughout the island the sound of the coqui everywhere you go from the moment you step outside the airport in the evening you hear this sound made by this tiny frog which is hard to see.

    • @ricardovelez1908
      @ricardovelez1908 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not salty at all. If compared to most US bbq, it is a very different experience that US folk will not be prepared for. In PR spicy food does not mean hot. For us it means flavorful. Guavate’s leachon is very flavorful. ❤lechon!

      It was pretty easy for us, but really depends on the baby haha. As far as mosquitoes we only had a problem at our Air BnB that was in the interior of the island. The city, beaches, and rainforest were free from them, at least we didn't see any.

    FYI barbecue was introduced to the world by the Spanish who observed our indigenous people, the Taínos, preparing their food. and called it Barbacoa, now called bar be cue. So yes, PR has a lot of Q places since it originated here🤷🏻‍♀️Also our tacos are not Mexican tacos…it’s just called a taco because it’s rolled.

    Any advice for vacationing with an infant like you did? Considering going with a 7 MO

    • @travelonhigh
      @travelonhigh  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Biggest thing is getting protection from the sun. Like while in the beach we had a beach tent and a portable fan. Also having a harness is a life saver to be able to walk around like a hike or walking around San Juan.
      At that age it's easier to just pack them up and carry them along and just feed bottles as needed. Really the only thing you need to worry about is the sun and keeping cool by going inside every now and then, or using a fan.

      It's about a 25 min ride from the cruise port. Here is the address: #16 Cll Muñoz Rivera, Trujillo Alto, 00976, Puerto Rico. Also for a single day there, luquillo beach is great and there is a bunch of street food and restaurants nearby if you want a beach day.

      You should be totally fine especially at that age you can just put them in a harness and go on hikes, beach, or around town. It can get pretty hot and humid so make sure to have an umbrella for the beach though.
