I'm hearing you say "remember when new Star Wars stuff was rare, and a huge treat because of it?" It was a nice era because of it. It was easy to appreciate it because of it. From 1994 on out it's been a non-stop flood that cheapens the value of the brand and cheapens the sense of getting something when you do get it. That's why I don't like the new stuff. There's never a break from it at all so we can have time to digest and appreciate it before we're expected to buy the next wave of stuff..

This was a great line of cards with awesome artwork! I think I have some of the cards, but I know I have two of the art books!

I too bought a whole box of Topps SW Trading Cards to in April of 1993. I was thrilled when these came out. I got Two Special Foil Etched cards in the packs of the box. Great 1st card series. I also liked series 2 & 3 as well. Thanks for putting a Spotlight on this Junkman!

I can’t believe it’s been almost 30 years since these came out! 😳

My mom and I collected these from the local comic book store. She also bought The Dark Empire comics and some Indiana Jones comics. Good memories.

When people review the early 90s Star Wars era they always say "there was nothing out there to by, there was hardly anything out there to buy".....but yard sales were flooded with the good old stuff! comic shops had the old marvel books in their quarter bins or maybe for a whole dollar.

I have to say them being just trading cards that aren't existing with some battle game tacked onto them is a good thing.

I collected the wide screen ROTJ cards that came out a couple of years later. I want to say around 1995. Also from a comic book store and I agree with you a 100% concerning the 90s. I think the lack of hopping around and discovery, as you coined it in the video, is devastating for the social skills and psyche of today's kids and youth.

I also bought an unopened box of both series 1 and 2. Still have them in a folder. I know I have the Jabba & Boba Fett Fo cards

Hey junk man, born in 77. I collected the cards growing up. I thought the card about what obi-wan would look like as a younger man made me think of the possibilities for a non-existent episode 1-3. I remember back then there was a rumor about “project red tails” which was suppose to be about a new star wars movie coming out in the late *90’s. Ever heard of project red tails?
    * I either read about it in wizard or Star Wars insider

The only "Red Tails" I heard about Lucas doing was the movie Lucasfilm eventually produced about the Tuskegee airmen, even as far back as 1990.

I scored a mint batch of someones doubles (I assume) for $5 at a yard sale and actually just dug them out tonight for the first time in I don't know how many years. I have about half the set if there is 104 in the set as you say.

I have the basic set and the chase set. However getting the chase set completed was a bit pricey. I wanted the art book but couldn't afford it at the time. I gave up when series 2 came out. It was just too much price wise.
